Clyde Martin
I am delighted to let you take over the management of the memorial I created for Clyde Martin. I am very happy indeed to find that my acting on a whim has come full circle with a connection to a family member. I was just so touched by the creative, hand-made stone I just had to take a picture of it and record it. Let me know if there's a problem with the transfer and I'll try again.

RE: Martin family
I'm finally cleaning out my email and looking at all the FindAGrave stuff. You were wondering if John Pigg Martin was related to the Francis Martin family. Have you done either a Y-DNA or the DNA? I would be interested also if there is a connection. Francis Martin was born somewhere in North Carolina ca 1766 and married somewhere in South Carolina (possibly Georgetown District, but no proof) where most of his children were born. The first known location is ca 1807 in Amite/Wilkinson County, Mississippi (youngest son Wiley James was born there in 1808). The family was later in Lawrence County. From there we mainly spread out to Hinds, Rankin, and Copiah Counties. As for our John P Martin, I have never heard what the P stands for.

We have been told the Martin family is Irish and that Francis may have been first or second generation American. Not sure the true validity of that but the Y-DNA seems to fit that possibility.

Looks like we are related...we share the same grgrgr grandparents, James Young and Mary Ann Stokes Young. Thank you for the information on James Jrs wife, we didn't have her name. We did have Francis as his daughter but not her full name of Sarah Francis with dates and places. Just looked again at our family tree because the name Harriet Ralls sounded familiar. We have some different info and didn't show her as the wife of James Jr. but did show her as wife of a Mr. Perrin and a William Logan. Hope you can help us clear things up. Would love to share info. We have lots on the Youngs.

RE: Harriet Logan
I called the cemetery today and found out which section Harriet is buried in, but I won't be able to pick up a map of the cemetery until Monday; there are no signs in the cemetery...
