I am a niece of Lloyd "Pete" Herbert Hughes, who was a Medal of Honor Recipient. Researching his life has been an honor and a privilege. Here are his crew members of the "Ole Kickapoo."|
The transcription of the grave marker on any memorial is important. Please add them.
I adopted the Bodan Cemetery in Pollok, Angelina County, Texas, USA because of the many relatives of mine who are buried there. About 40% of those buried there are related to me.
You have my permission to use the grave marker photographs I have uploaded in any genealogy project. They are not one-of-a-kind photographs. You certainly do not, however, have my permission to use my photographs of family members in some money making scheme. Don't laugh, it has already been tried - and stopped.
If you have a problem with adding transcriptions of the grave marker, please take it up with Find A Grave. They have a field for it, they ask that you fill it.
That which was lost has been found! My third great grandparents are buried in Kuehn Cemetery which had been mislocated.
I registered on Find A Grave on 9 Jul 2001 when there were "only" 2.5 million memorials. For some reason, I didn't create my first memorial until 29 Jul 2001.

For me, the marker transcription are sayings like "She rests with the angels." If you put the name and dates, you are simply repeating the information already on the memorial. If you are related to the people you suggested the changes for, I'll gladly transfer them. Otherwise, I prefer not to repeat the name and dates on my memorials. Thank you for the suggestion though.
You want it in the transcription field or the name field? I can put it in the transcription field no problem
Just let me know
Did you delete my message in here? I sent it to someone...IDK
As I mentioned in the message whoever got it or if you did, the consensus was that it needs to be searchable.
It is in the bio that she was married twice
The links are there too to the husbands
No reason to add the other name even though it is on the stone. This happens to a lot of stones.
Sometimes they put the maiden name on there only, but her married name is what is on the memorial. I guess in that case there could be chances of duplicating but with Ingling being the last name, that will be what people search for
I shall be adding a note for admin that is how I have it and it should stay that way.
I guess if Admin wants it that way so it cannot be searched than so be it, until then, it stays
Sorry if you don't agree. That's the way the cookie crumbles today. Might change tomorrow in your favor or maybe Mark will come along into the thread on the forum and leave comment on what to do

My apologies for all the edits I'm new at this and will double check before making anymore changes, thanks Keith
|Laura V||RE: Are you related to ...|
No, I am not related to Ada Compton. I simply walk the cemetery taking photos and then upload them to memorials or create missing memorials. You'll see that I added a note in the bio that her stone is beside a matching stone for R. L. Compton #118075696. I try to leave information this way in hopes that relatives will be able to make the correct connections. I MAY have assumed Ada and R.L. were married and made that link - I don't remember.
I have no idea how Ada was linked as spouse to Floyd F Phillips. I can only guess that it came as an "edit request" and I took someone's word for it and accepted the request. I used to always note who sent me info additions/links request etc in the bio. The new way Find a Grave does this with the edit tab makes it easier to make changes/additions but also makes it harder to note who sent the information.
In short, I don't know where the info came from. If you feel it's in error I believe you can un-link them.
I personally did not make links for Ada's parents either. Perhaps the person who maintains their memorials is the one who has more of her information and requested the link for husband Floyd Phillips.???
Hope you can track this down.

I am okay with the pictures and I really appreciate all your help with getting the Sherrod memorials to me so that I can share them with our family members.
Are you related to the Maroneys or the Jones with whom one of them intermarried? I know there are lots of people buried at Eastview Memorial Park Cemetery,in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX, but I am just curious.
You have done an amazing job with find-a-grave. Thank you!

Hi...Could you please tell me where the RW Cenotaph is located in Elbert County? I am pretty punchy from a long night of genealogy fun, so if it is right in front of my face there I apoligize, but it is not clear to me if it is at a cemetery which one?
Thanks and thanks for the work you do for Find A Grave. People like you make it possible for those of us who cannot leave our homes to keep on with our research endeavors and still feel like we are 'out there' so to speak.

Thank you very much for transferring this family member to me.
