Bio Photo My name is Valarie. Youngest child of Ray E. McNeal & Dorothy F. Couch McNeal. I am married to Terrence Smith. No children. My fascination of visiting cemeteries started at a very young age. My dad passed away when I was 3 and we visited him quite often. I love seeking out old cemeteries and seeing the very old graves. My friend took me to Hollywood a few years ago and showed me many celebrity gravesites. Well that set fire to my love for visiting and paying homage to them. Respectfully of course. I have a couple hundred pics of their headstones.

My brother Larry McNeal was a big Find A Grave contributor prior to his death. Most of them are family some from very small cemeteries in the midwest. He contributed and managed almost 3,000 memorials which I took over upon his death. His memorial is the only one that I have done.

I have enjoyed talking to fellow gravers and sharing and updating information on the memorials.

RE: Hi Vickie!
Dear Valerie:

I hope this e-mail finds you and family well. Dave & I moved together with our 3 adult (30+ year old kids) to Texas in January 2013. Here in Texas, all are employed and 1 has married and I am enjoying my first grandchild.

I'm a member of the Weatherford, TX, DAR chapter now. With the DAR, I teach the Constitution in the local public schools, 5th graders. I also run the DAR essay contest for grades 5-8 throughout Parker County. I was never allowed to do this in California where I taught, the schools are so anti American history.

Texas has turned out to be a wonderful place for our family. We never thought we would leave California but after the 2012 election, we realized it was necessary so our adult kids could find full time work, etc. They marvel that they can afford to buy a house here, regained many freedoms such as the simple act of shooting off fireworks that they remembered being able to do as small kids. They all have their concealed carry permits and take pride in our 2nd Amendment Rights.

My mom celebrates her 89th birthday tomorrow! I am so thankful my brother takes great care of her and she, too, escaped California.

Name Edit
I'm so sorry to read about your Brother's passing even though it has been some time I know it is still hard for you especially dealing with his memorials on Find A Grave. I fulfilled a photo request on one of his memorials #13866528 (Perry McClain. However his gravestone name reads McClane. I see that the person who requested the photo added a military VA burial card to the memorial. I do not know which spelling is correct so I did not request a name change. Your Brother has an extensive relationship on the memorial under McClain so perhaps it is the correct spelling.

Valarie, I just now read the post on your profile about the other person moving their memorial to the correct cemetery, causing a duplicate. I have just now requested that they remove their duplicate memorial for him. I am sorry for the confusion, I may have mistakenly sent the first request for removal to you, instead of them.

Valarie, I think you must have misunderstood, I would never harrass ANYONE. I am sorry that you feel that I am harrassing you. That was not my intent. I was just tring to find out why both you and Larry have a memorial for him.

Hi Valarie,

I was excited to find all the info your brother posted on the above mentioned memorial. I was in the process of sending him a note when I read the sad news. Thanks to Larry's hard work, I now have a few more missing pieces! Do you have any idea where he got this information? Are you possibly related to the Miller, Gracy, or French families?

Hi! I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. Thank you for taking over his memorials. Memorial #6358616 has an incorrect spelling of the first name. It should be Marguerite as in the photo. Could you please make this change when you get a chance. Thank you!

You are quite welcome. If you find that I have created memorials for any other family or friends, please don't hesitate to ask for a transfer.
