I am a 47 years old, I live near Chicago. I always liked history and cemeteries. I always saw cemeteries as a link with the past. There is just so much history in them. I also like the 19th sculpture work. On our family drivong trips when I was little we always went to see local cemeteries. Now I belong to AGS (Association for Gravestone Studies) and try to make the yearly Conferences. I have been a member of Find a Grave for a while. After mom (Alice Martine) passed away in Feb of 2004 I started adding the rest of the family to the site, then I started adding people off of gravestone photos. I have a lot of them. It seems a nice way for them to be remembered. I actually found a group of relatives who passed away many years ago and are burried in North Dakota. It seemed very thooughtful taht someone had put them all on. I wanted to thank everyone who has left flowers on these memorials. | |

 | Marcus Spiegel Hello John, Thanks for taking the great photo of the Marcus Spiegel stone that appears on his son's page, Moses Spiegel, Find A Grave Memorial# 16884799. That is a great view of the stone. Marcus was Colonel of the 120th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was killed in battle in Louisiana. I have been researching the 120th for 12 years and would like to have your permission to use the photo on my site and in my research that I will give to the library in Wooster, OH. I always give credit for the photos. Thanks for considering my request.

 | curious I found my grandmothers memorial page today and noted that you left flowers on her page. I'm curious as to why you did that. I may be mistaken, but I don't think you knew her.Added by debbie m on Nov 25, 2011 2:34 PM | | | Terri
 | Pinkos I found your story on your Pinkos side interesting. My great Grandfather was also a Polish Catholic. He settled in Portland Maine and worked as a blacksmith (drop forger. He named his son Leon and one of his daughters (my grandmother) Leocardia. I wonder if there is a connection?Added by Terri on Jan 07, 2011 5:11 PM | | | Deborah Martine
