Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have always been interested in cemeteries. As a teenager we would stop at old cemeteries and we would read the old headstones.

In 1981 while going through my mother-in-law's keepsakes I came across an obit for her uncle who had died young. I was taken by the wording and I want to find out more about him. I was hooked. We have traveled to many states looking in cemeteries and libraries.

My husband, Doug and I retired in 2008. We live in Modesto, California. We now have lots of time to work on our family research. We have a daughter, Jennifer and a son, Kevin. Kevin is married to Glena; they have a son, Shawn, he was born in 2004. Our grandson, Shawn is our reward after many years of long hours of work.

I registered years ago but just started using the site Feb 2009; I also volunteered to look up graves in our area. Shawn and I put on our detective's hats and went to investigate. It was very rewarding.

If I have added in any of your family I will be happy to transfer the memorial to you. You may use any photo that I have posted, that is what we are all about SHARING information and finding our loved ones final resting place. It would be nice if you gave us the credit for the photo or info, so we could learn more from others also.

Some of our family names are: Parman: Petty: Ervin: Wade: Harmon: Wilson: McCall: Lawler: Hodges: Mann: Stuart: Smyth: Waddle: Kelso: Maple:

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Hi Marilyn,
I have updated his memorial. WOW! That is an unusual marker. Do you think he was referring to Modesto?? :O)

Dear Doug & Marilyn,
Thank you so much for taking the photo of my Great Grandfather's headstone. It means so much to me to be able to add photos to my genealogy program when they are available. It just rounds out the history a bit more. I appreciate your very prompt reply to my request. Isn't Find a Grave a wonderful tool! Thanks again, Merry Henry
