Note regarding Verdugo Hills Cemetery:
This cemetery was badly damaged by floods and mudslides many years ago. Many caskets washed down the hill and into the town of Tujunga; some were never reunited with the correct tombstone or marker. Also, the cemetery went into bankruptcy and was siezed by the State of California. Records were primitive, 3X5 cards. Most were accurately transcribed onto Excel spreadsheets and uploaded to F-A-G, but some discrepancies have been reported. Pleaes do not request changes to the Find-A-Grave entries, as it is not possible to verify your info.

Edith Beale Sr. "Bid Edie"

My name is Tyler Hughes. I am a researcher of historic families. I have collected a considerable amount of information on Edith, including several photos. I was wondering, would you be willing to transfer the memorial over to me? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks, Tyler

Thanks, Priscilla...
I love the tribute you left for Martha Kostyra, Martha Stewart's mother. I miss "Big Martha"; always loved seeing her on the show and learned so much from her. My own darling mother died just two months after Mrs. Kostyra; it's like I'm mourning two moms in a way. I know Martha misses her mother as badly as I do mine. It makes me feel we have something in common. Anyway, thanks again and God's blessings.

You have Burns, memorial's # 5633403, believe this may be Katherine Eleanor Bell Burns, she was born 24 Oct 1885 in Claysville, Washington, Pennsylvania and died 01 July 1966 Alhambra, Los Angeles, California, USA. Do you have any info about this grave or a photo of the headstone.
Thanks for all your hard work on this cemetery and thanks for any help you can give me.

My Father's Grave
Hello Priscilla,

Thank you so much for all the work you've done to preserve and revitalize Verdugo Hills Cemetery. I found my father's name today. In 1972, soon after he died, I had a chance to live in El Monte, California. My sister and I went to the cemetery to see if we could find his grave but after much searching, we still couldn't find it. There was no one there to help us so we had no clue where to look and from what I remember most of the graves were marked by stones on the ground and many were covered with grass. Again, thank you. You've given me one more chance to spend some time remembering my father.

I believe this may be my grandmother's grave. The dates seem correct. I need to know if there is a headstone. Please. thank you.

Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale
I was wondering if you would be so kind as to add the birth date and death date information for Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale ("Big Edie")?
There are several sources that have her data and all seem to be in agreement that this is the correct information:
Date of Birth: October 5, 1895
Place of Birth: Nutley, New Jersey
Date of Death: February 5, 1977 (aged 81)
Place of Death: Southampton, New York
The above information is from Wikipedia.
Here is the link to Mrs. Beale's Find A Grave memorial page:
Thank you for you cooperation.
