RE: Lorine Snyder
I am happy to reunite Lorine with family. She and Glenn attended my church and they were very good people.

Mattie Thorn
Hello, You left a message for Mattie Thorn 1860-1881 at Boggess Cemetery in St Jo Texas, on Find-A-Grave. I do not have her in my Thorn family tree. Is she a daughter of Robert Carter Thorn, who is the only other Thorn buried at Boggess Cemetery.

Daniel Horney 1833-1918
the Civil War caused him to drop off the radar BUT a suit was filed against Daniel in 1874 byHey Barbara

I noticed you annotated Daniel Horney's findagrave site as being a relative. Do you have any info on him and family? I am pretty sure he is NOT the Daniel Horney I am trying to run down but just wanted to verify.

My 2d ggrandmother Mary Ann Buford [1829-1912] married 1st G.W. Washington Robinson about 1846. They had 3 children by 1850--John, Elisabeth [my ggrandmother] and Lucy]. The couple appears on the 1850 census [Reynolds County, MO where she was born]. GW disappears by the 1860 census [again Reynolds County] and Mary Ann Robinson is married to a Daniel Horney b OH about 1833. They had one child Sarah. Daniel is found on a land document in about 1858 in Reynolds County. By 1870 Daniel is no where to be found and Mary Ann and the children are living with her father John Buford. I had assumed something connected with Mary Ann's brother Abraham concerning some land [do not know if it was the land with which he is associated in 1858 or not]. The suit was mentioned in a local MO paper and required him to answer it--he did not. There could have been many reasons he did not, of course--one being he did not see a local MO newspaper back in OH. As he did not appear the land in question was awarded to Abraham.

My question--given that dates are not always accurate in records is is possible that the Daniel Horney you referenced in findagrave and the one for whom I am looking is the same person. Is there any indication he might have been missing from OH for 7-8 years?

The bizarre twist to this whole situation is that until I began my genealogic research I never knew that Mary Ann had any other children than my ggrandmother Elisabeth--it must have been well known to my grandmother and her sibs and the Bufords who were contemporaries. No one of my generation EVER heard of the other 3 children. Won't bore you with the rest of the story.

Anyway--I think that the two Daniels are just coincidental in birth dates and locations because the Horneys like many other families used the same names over and over and within generations.

Thanks, judy knight

Hi Barbara,

My husband is the grandson of Thaddeus Nickell and Olive Lee Staggs Nickell. We were at the Rosedale Cemetery in Ada yesterday and would like to talk with you about the graves of William, Sarah, and Aaron Staggs.

We noticed a posting asking about the Singhorse connection in the Staggs generalogy. We are also interested in any information you may have on this.

Joseph Maynard
I'm doing research on the soldiers who were in the 85th Indiana Infantry. Do you know anything about Joseph Maynard - Memorial# 19334861? He matches the death date of the same name who was from Terre Haute and died at Nashville, Tennessee, and was in Company I. Thanks.
