A few of the families I am researching are the Blackwelder, Bost, Brady, Cook, Demarcus, Kerr, Leroy, Lowrance, Miller, Misenheimer, Neal, Pence, Pethel, Shoaf, Sink, Sloop, Stewart, Walter, Wilson, Winecoff, Wooten and Zinck's.
I try to link as many relatives together as possible. There are some entries I make not directly related to me and I will be more than happy to transfer these over to close relations.
I have run into a lot of people who refuse to honor my requests to link certain people together and it is quite frustrating for I cannot understand why they will not link someone to their husband, wife, mother, father.
This is a wonderful website for people researching their ancestors and without these crucial links, we run into many brick walls. Hopefully others will get on board to be more willing to fill request for links to others. | |

 | Sophia Obidence Pethel Stockton Hi Brady;
I have just located Sophia's death (Dec 20, 1938) & burial place thanks for your input & help. I am not sure what I did differently in my constant searches but it worked this time. Now I just need to find her husband's death - Charles Wesley Stockton. Since it is not listed with her's, I am thinking it may be in Roane Co., TN as they were living there in the 1900 census. I will keep trying & maybe get lucky there also. Any help will always be appreciated. Thanks. ElaineAdded by Elaine on May 23, 2013 12:54 PM | | | Elaine

 | Sophia Obidence Pethel Hi; I am trying to locate further info. for Sophia whom I believe to have married Charles Wesley Stockton. They are given in the 1880 census (Davis, Lumpkin, GA) with their children: George, Anna & William. I am actually searching the Stockton family - in particular a Charles W. Stockton b. 1830, Brant Co., ON, Canada. (there are a few discrepancies in census records as to his place of birth). He lived in NY & was in NJ in 1870 then disappeared. I have traced Charles & Sophia to TN. Later Nancy (GA) & Maud (TN) were born, possibly another child. It appears they moved prior to 1882. I have not been able to find either of their deaths, nor a marriage record but most of their children's records indicate clearly their parents are Sophia & Charles. In the 1910 census (Loudon, TN), Sophia is listed as Head of the family & a widow. All indicates this is the same Charles as mine but I have been unable to find conclusive proof. A marriage record may or may not help. They would have been married about 1874. I would be happy to be able to call the children 'cousins'.Added by Elaine on May 23, 2013 8:10 AM | | | Robert C. | Duke Chapel Don't worry about the mistake. It is very common. I just check with it ever so often because I'm so familiar with it. Almost always find some additions which don't belong there. Because the Duke hospital use to have a crematory it is easily assumed they are interred at Duke. There was a theory that the hospital itself had a chapel for burials, but that isn't true. What is now true is that the Sarah B. Duke Gardens has a memorial walk for burials. But again, there has to be a connection to the University, usually for professors and/or alumni. The remains are not scattered but placed in urns and buried. The stones lining the walk then have the name of the person inscribed on them. Robert | | | Tammy
 | Jane Shoaf Foust Hi, I transferred this memorial to you since she is not my relative, and I added her memorial when I was surveying the cemetery. I like for family to have the memorials of their ancestors or loved ones.

 | William & Nettie Leonard Brady,
I received your SACs this morning and have made the changes you requested. Thank you so much for providing the additional info. Are the couple relatives of yours? If so, and you would like a transfer of their memorials, please let me know.

 | linking One other thought for you on getting things linked that you've requested. I send a copy of each recommendation/correction/suggestion to my email. I then "store" them in a separate email folder. Periodically, I go back through them and check to see if the item is accomplished. If so, I delete it. If not, and it's over a month old, I forward it to the editor of F-A-G. (again copying myself so I can track when I sent it to them and move it to the same folder) Their policy states, to wait a month after you've sent a correction to a contributor, and then if the corrections are not made, contact F-A-G's editor and they'll make them. When I first started doing this two or three years ago, they were very prompt in the corrections. (F-A-G was at about 55 Million then)...In the last few months, corrections have taken them several months to complete. I had a batch of corrections they lost and sent me an email with an apology... SO I just pulled them from the folder and re-sent them... This helps the frustration level... I've done everything I can. Dave | | | | [View all messages...] |
