I am working on the Ripley County, Missouri cemeteries. I have House and Couch relatives in various cemeteries located in Ripley County, and a few surrounding counties. Since I was from a small town, I am trying to do all the cemeteries I can since I know people in all of them. |
On one grave site I found this inscription:
"Those who do not remember and treasure their ancesters do not deserve to be remembered by posterity."
And I couldn't agree more. I find myself loving people who have been buried for fifty years. I have developed an awesome sense of responsibility for gathering data and pictures for the gravesites.

Hi, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind transferring these two memorials as they are my grandparents and i would like to update the information on them. Also is there anyway to get copies of the photos of them. I have only one picture of them and they are together. I would greatly appreciate anything you can do to help. Best Regards~Kim

Hi Cousin Beth
Would you be able to email me your phone
number for I can talk to you.
|Beth Paddock||Hattie Smith House|
Hello back to you, cousin.
Hattie Smith married Chester House, son of Hiram in Oxly in1903. Chester died in Dyess, Arkansas in 1957, but I can't find any death notices for Hattie, and I think in the Blythville, Arkansas Courrier November 8, 1950, it had a surviving wife with a different name, but I couldn't read it. I also am looking for daughters of Chester that vanished with name changes.
Darlene was in Corning, Arkansas,, but I can't locate her. Mahala Smith was on the marriage certificate for Hattie Smith House and she was born in Missouri on all the consensus.

Hiram was my gg-grandfather. His daughter
was Annie (House) Smith who married Joe
Smith in 1905. Their oldest daughter is
Rose (Smith) Bowen who is my grandmother.
Joe and Annie (House) Smith is buried in
the Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines,
Their other daughter Mary Crouse-Klein
is buried next to them at the same cemetery.
Grandpa Joe's parents are Jay & Kisiah
Smith buried at the Oxly cemetery.
I will have to check out the Smith side of
the family for the others.

I received this email from a woman requesting information I am unable to provide. Does anyone reading this know the answers?
I was wondering if you might be able to help my family out with something.
There is a Graveyard where I grew up as a kid on county rd H-11. I believe it's called Sipes. My Uncle Johnny Brooks who is in his 70s still lives out there, but he said his new neighbor has been cleaning out the cemetary, he thinks its possible that his neighbor might disc over it, seeing how most people do not know that it is out there.
I live 4 hrs away in Benton AR, but I was wondering if so wine might be able to check on this for my Uncle. If you know of someone who could check on this I would appreciate it!

Hi Beth, I visited House cemetery in Perry county Illinois today and I could not locate either Jacob or Elizabeth House's grave/headstone. I am wondering if you remember the cemetery you said you visited. I know it was a long time ago. I am thinking that they are placed in the wrong cemetery on Findagrave. This was my second trip to this cemetery and I surely cannot miss them twice. The only other thought is that both headstones have been removed for some reason. I still think they are in a different cemetery. David
