|Hi FINDAGRAVERS. Love researching. Especially family names like WALKER, RILEY, CRAIL, WATKINS, ASHURST, PURDY, BERRY, WILSON, BATES, POWELL, DAY, LINTON, RANDOLPH, LEWIS, WARNER, TALIAFERRO, THORTON, VINING and many earlier links. I am willing to transfer to relatives of someone within 3 generations but not of my own family listings and their ancestors.I don't get to get online very often so my response is not as often as I would like. Thank you for info you may share and your patience. Good Gravehunting!|

|Evangelist Robert Howard||Rev Ivan R Chester, Mem#5480694|
Hello Ms Vining:
Wondering if you're related to the Chester's. Ivan was our pastor, at First Baptist Church, here in Rock Springs, from about 1956-59. Was Ivan Conservative Baptist? The church later went over to the liberal, ABC, but most of us, including my mother, remained very Conservative. You have such a beautiful photo of the Chester's! They were so great for us! Can you please reply?

|Dave Purdy||Thank you|
My name is Dave Purdy and I am a direct descendant of Samuel Purdy of Falmouth, Ky. through his son Martin Luther Purdy, via his son Daniel Boone Purdy, then my grandfather Louis Purdy, and my father Walton Daniel Purdy. I just want to thank you for all the work and postings that you have provided regarding the Purdy family. My Dad passed away in 2001 having only heard the words Falmouth Ky. mentioned as a possible homeland. He knew nothing of his family history. Apparently when Daniel Boone Purdy came to Arkansas from Kentucky, he didn't talk much about the past. My son Joseph Daniel Purdy began asking questions that I couldn't answer a few years ago and he started looking into Ancestry.com and found the wealth of information you had supplied. Again, we can't thank you enough. We hope to find out more about Samuels father and his ancestry by going to the Wheeling West Virginia area to dig up anything we can about the indian massacre. So the hunt continues. Thanks again and God Bless You..............Dave
|Dancing With Ghosts||Capt Joseph Rutherford Walker|
Capt Joseph Rutherford Walker Find A Grave Memorial# 5755541. I am the one sponsoring his memorial.
I believe we have discussed this before my friend. Capt Walker's memorial should have been marked famous years ago when you first listed him. He is famous on so many different levels. I know I tried and was fighting an ongoing losing battle with the old crew running Find A Grave.
If you are game, I think it might be time to try again.
I know it can not be approved with the bio that is on it now because it is from somewhere else.
If I am not being forward, let me try writing one to send to you to try again.
Let me know and take care
Dancing aka Debbra
|Bill||John Walker=Katherine Rutherford burial location.|
on the grave record for John Walker=Katherine Rutherford, given as "Nottingham Cemetery" Chester County PA. There's a reason that there is no grave marker commemorating their death---namely, this is not where they were buried. Their actual burial site is in what was once the West Nottingham Presbyterian Cemetery on the Nottingham Lots, which lies on the Chester County-Cecil County border. The cemetery was in what is now Rising Sun approximately across the street from the old High School. The confusion about this is driven by White 1902 who had information that they were buried in the cemetery of the West Nottingham Presbyterian MH, but didn't exactly know where it was. (Her book shows a picture of the Quaker Nottingham Cemetery, which is something else again--John and Katherine weren't buried there either.) The confusion over whether they were buried in Cecil county or Chester county stems from the fact that this location is close to the Mason Dixon line. The Walkers were living in this general area, probably thought of their homeplace as being in Chester County So that's what got passed down, eventually coming in to the hands of White. After the Mason Dixon line was established the area became firmly part of Cecil County. The West Nottingham Presbyterian church relocated several times from its founding in the early 1700's. At one point it was located at the mouth of the Octoraro (then called The Mouth of the Octoraro MH). Later they moved North to what is now called Rising Sun. Eventually the congregation divided New Side-Old Side, only to become reunited at a later date. At that time they build a new Church south of Rising Sun, still in operation today. Some, but not all or even most, of the graves at the old Church were moved to the new (or at least their headstones were. Eventually, in the 1960's the old W. Nottingham Presbyterian cemetery in Rising Sun was plowed under and converted to homesites. So there's no trace of the cemetery today. Which is to say, you won't find John and Katherine's tombstone here either, but this is where they were buried. The cemetery they are currently described as being at was not established until long after their deaths.

|Chris Hammond||McGill Family|
Thank you for all your help with the McGill family memorials! I apologize if I've sent a lot of edits. My first cousin, twice removed, Ted McGill, has researched the family for over 30 years and traced them back to Scotland. His information is very accurate so I am trying to transfer some of that over to Find a Grave. Thanks again!
|Shelley or Terry||William Thomas Prather memorial|
Is it possible to add the following information to William Thomas Prather (Find A Grave Memorial# 50034964), the husband of Emily Watkins?
William Thomas Prather was born in Kentucky on 20 Mar 1812 (this date was obtained from a page from his daughter's (Lorana (Prather) Furrow Wilcox) family bible) and he died on 15 Jan 1870 in Bond County, Illinois. He is buried in Mulberry Grove Cemetery (Find A Grave Memorial# 60244144). He married Sabrina Downing on 28 May 1845 in Vermilion County, Illinois.
William Thomas Prather and Emily Watkins' daughter, Lorana (Prather) Furrow Wilcox, is at Find A Grave Memorial# 25117587 under Lorana Wilcox.
|Shelley or Terry||Emily Watkins parentage|
Thank you for the wonderful work you have done in showing the Watkins genealogy on Find A Grave. I am descended from Emily Watkins (Find A Grave Memorial# 50034918), likely the daughter of William Arnold Watkins and Irene Lorena Wallace. A descendant of William Wallace Watkins and I just connected through autosomal DNA testing. Do you know if any documentation exists that supports Emily's parentage?
|DOUGLAS JOHN SHACKLEY||Col Francis Thornton, II|
It is I that needs to thank you for the creation of the memorial for Col Francis Thornton, II. I have sponsored the memorial because he is one of my 6th GGFs.
