Bio Photo I'm David, and one of my many hobbies involves genealogy and family history, which I have pursued more than 30 years. I have watched Find A Grave's growth over the last several years and have found it to be an important and very useful resource. Hence, I have elected to become a more active participant, as time permits. As a volunteer, my prime interest is in assisting other genealogists and family historians in obtaining photographs of the graves of their kin.

Hi David,
I do not remember if I ever thanked you for taking a picture of their stone, but if not thank you very much. I cannot thank you enough as I probably will never get to Hawaii. Thank you one again and may God bless you always.

George and Abigail bromley
They were both born in Hawaii too but it wasn't part of the USA then so I didn't know how to enter that for their birth place.

Harris memorials 117507824 & 117507826
Hi David,

It's rather difficult to tell since the stones don't match, so I'm hoping you might be able to tell me if George S & Elizabeth Noble Harris were man and wife. It appears their gravesites are adjacent.

It also appears that most of their children are also buried there at Oahu Cemetery, and I would being able to link the family.

Thank you,

Forever Memories
Please forgive me Mr. Knight. The above # is Allen Walters Lindley's mother not his spouse as I had suggested. I am sorry for the trouble this may have caused you.

Minton family members in Hawaii

My name is Eric Baker. I live in Durham, North Carolina. My ID is #48119498.
You recently processed some edits at my request regarding the grave of William Marriott Minton (#117507844). Also buried in O'ahu Cemetery are William's wife Jennie "Jane" McLain Minton #117507872 and his sister-in-law Sadie I. McLain #117507869.

I am not closely related to these people but I am a distant cousin of the Minton family. I have become interested in the Minton family after discovering that the Mintons were socially and financially prominent in New York City during the Nineteenth Century and early Twentieth Century. Most of the Mintons are buried in Silver Mount Cemetery in Staten Island, New York. I have created or contributed information to the majority of the Minton memorials in that cemetery. Sadly, many of these gravesites have fallen into disrepair.

Oddly, this family has fallen into almost complete obscurity. The last person with the Minton name appears to be John McKim Minton Jr. who died in the late Nineteen Seventies. He was a prominent trial lawyer in New York for sixty years and was involved in the Alger Hiss case. His death was noted in a New York Times obituary.

William Marriott Minton was the one of the ten children in his family who left New York. He lived in New Orleans, San Francisco and finally in Hawaii. He was married three times. His achievements appear to be quite modest compared to those of his relatives. I would like to learn more about him.

I am therefore requesting that you transfer the above three memorials to me even though I am not a close relative. If this is not possible I will send you some biographical information and a contact e-mail which I will request that you add to William's memorial so that I may hear from other Minton researchers.

You appear to have done a huge amount of volunteer work. Please accept my compliments for your excellent efforts.

Best regards,
Eric Baker
