Bio and Links
Bio Photo My husband and I are both retired and enjoy researching family. We have photographed many grave markers in the Southeast and are willing to help others who want pictures of their ancestors' graves. Our families are names Blankenship, Cameron, Ellison, Whitman, Bolan, and Mitchell plus other related families. Both of us were born and grew up in Alexander City, AL where we still live. We have 4 sons and 11 grandchildren.

Resthaven Memorial Gardens

I am sharing this message that was posted on the "I Grew Up in Valley, AL" Facebook group today 6/28/14. Please share with anyone you know who has family buried there.

If anybody has family buried out at Resthaven you may want to go check on their lots! We went out today and grass is almost knee high. We cut around my parents graves but the entire place is in shambles! There are graves that still have dead flowers piled on them from the funeral, lots of graves with no grass and lots of graves that have the vases missing off them! Anywhere there is grass it's almost knee high!! It's a sad sight!!!
feeling annoyed.

Landrum Talton Kelley
Landrum Talton Kelley name misspelled on tombstone by people who marked this grave but that is history and we need to document this. He was Landrum Talton Kelley and my uncle Irving Kelley marked this grave by what he knew as Landom Talton but it is Landrum Talton Kelley.
Also, there are others named after him that will be corrected in emails following this. Please post that he was Landrum Talton, not Landom Talton, and know that he is my direct ancestor.

RE: Mary A Dobson wife of Tarlton Kelley Coosa County
I have never found a "Dobson" name connection for Mary. I have Tarlton's probate records from South Carolina and Dobson doesn't enter the picture. I know this is probably correct but I can't find who her parents were. Tarlton's father was James Kelley and his mother was Ann Eaton. James was a Revolutionary soldier and I am not sure if he died as a result of the injuries or was actually killed in WAr. Ann Eaton remarried Andrew Calhoun, a cousin to John C Calhoun. She had three additional children. Her son, Warren Ransom Davis Calhoun is buried in Virginia in a mass grave for Civil War soldiers. But this Dobson name just doesn't come together for me. I wish that I could find one little piece of information proving she was a Dobson and where they married. Ann Eaton had a sister named Sarah who married a Rankin. So, I have found records for everyone except Mary Ann Dobson. A big puzzle to me for nine years.

Mary A Dobson wife of Tarlton Kelley Coosa County
I notice that you put Mary A Dobson or Mary Ann Dobson as Tarlton Kelley's wife. I would like to have your documentation on that person, as I am a direct descendant, and we have no birth records nor marriage records for them whatsoever. Please, please know that I am not questioning your research, but asking you for help in knowing how Mary A Dobson got put with Tarlton Kelley. Thank you in advance for your response ... I have so many records on Tarlton, Landrum Talton and it is Landrum not Landom as is on his tombstone and I will explain that to you in another message. Thanks again, I would like to find out if Mary A Dobson was married before Tarlton. Tarlton married late for his birth year. :) Language 123

RE: Jimmy G. Carter
Yes ma'am I can do that. I have seen that we have crossed paths across our genealogy trails before and I usually don't ask for a transfer from you because i assumed as much as I have seen your name we must be related. =-) I must not have realized you were the one transferring the memorial. I had not realized we had galloway family in Alabama till a month ago and was just trying to make sure all family in this area was linked and hoping I could meet some Galloway family from this area.

Henry Galloway and Civility Buck
(5th gr grandparents)

John Henry Galloway and Sophia Harris (Moved this line to Arkansas )

William Montgomery Guinn Galloway and Hester Smith

Henry Tolket Galloway and Nora B. Dickerson

Bitha Galloway and William Herbert McBee

William Agert McBee and Elsie Louis Popp

Cindy Lynn McBee and Jerry Don Wood
