Lemuel McClurg obituary
Carthage Citizen, Friday, Sept. 23, 1927
Dies at Long Hospital
Lemuel McClurg, age 68 years and one day, a resident of this place since 1917, died Sunday morning at 9:20 o’clock at the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis and following the amputation of his right hand several days previous. He suffered severe injuries on August 20 when an automobile driven by his son-in-law, Samuel Royce of Muncie and one driven by Henry Garner, of near New Castle, were in a collision at a crossroad west of New Castle.
Surviving him are the widow, two sons and eight daughters, Joseph McClurg, of near Rushville, Mrs. Hattie Porter of this place, Mrs. Miranda Eddington, west of here, Mrs. Mary Royce and Mrs. Malinda Hayes of Muncie, Marcus, Ethel, Bessie, Georgia and Gladys at home; one brother Abalson of Maysville, Ky.; one sister, Amanda Pell, Rushville and fourteen grandchildren.
The deceased came to this county nearly eleven years ago. He had been an industrious resident and was employed at the paper mill the greater part of this time.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Wesleyan Methodist Church of which he was a member. Rev. Walter C. Morris, pastor, was in charge, assisted by Thomas Addison. A quartet composed of Mrs. Fred McCorkle, Mrs. David Ray, Mrs. Walter Morris and Thurman Addison gave three selections and Mrs. McCorkle and Mrs. Ray sang as a duet. Burial was in the Carthage Cemetery, north of town. W. O. Moore was funeral director.

I found in a large concrete bordered burial plot with a large Convis stone, around it in addition to the 3 individuals you requested, were the following:
Dallas Convis (1898-1994)
Mary L. (1835-1907)
David (1831-1920)
Gwendolyn Convis (1904-1989)
Mary A. (1950-1926)
If interested in any of these, please request and I will be happy to add a photo.

RE: Jana Branstetter and Ada Parker Branstetter
You are welcome. I lived next door to Ada and John for several years. Haven't see her for a couple of years but she was doing fine then. I have several thousand grave photos online at

RE: Rudolph Auxier
You are welcome! Interesting to note, the headstone is facing in the opposite direction from all the others in this section of the cemetery.

Glad I posted a photo that was needed by another doing genealogy. It makes the drives and work worth while to me.
