Though our branches are seperate and far apart,|
my quest for you is from the heart.
For somewhere back in time,
we share the same family line.
The Elusive Ancestor
I went searching for an ancestor, I cannot find him still.
He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will.
He married where a courthouse burned, he mended all his fences.
He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. census.
He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame.
And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name.
I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed; But the weather took engraving, and some vandals took the rest.
He died before the court clerks decided to keep records.
No family bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts.
To top it off, this ancestor who caused me many groans, just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named JONES!!!

Thank you so much for responding! I would very much appreciate you sending that document. My ancestor, Adam Shorb, or Johannes (John) Adam Shorb, was of the same generation as your John, and most of Adam's children ended up in Stark County, Ohio. Adam's parentage is unproven, as far as I know, so a document from Stark County could be very useful.
Thank you so much!

I am a descendant of Adam Shorb, 1742 - 1798, associated with the Conewago Chapel in Adams County, PA. I am very interested in the sources for your documentation of Johannes Casparus Shorb, and his descendants.
Thank you in advance!

Hi Shani Miller. Thanks for putting Grace and Parker Miller on Find A Grave. Grace is my Grandma Lena Mae Crum Whitney's sister so Grace is my great aunt?
Are you related the Parker Miller? Do you know anything about their daughter Pearl Evia Miller?

Are you related to them?

You are welcome. They are listed in the Maple Hill cemetery book together. If you ever go back, they are in "Section 1, Row 11 (south to north)" about in the middle near the Rider family. Section 1 appears to be to the left of the Washington street entrance, but it is long and skinny so where Row 11 is located is a guess. I'm not local so can't be much more help.
