Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.

I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Patty,

I do reallze that Eliza's death certificate has her name as Stella but this is my husband's ancestor and all of the research I have done shows her name to be Eliza. Since you have put her death certificate on her memorial, people will have both names and they can decide for themselves. I appreciate your input.

Per his death certificate he was buried in Garfield. He is definitely NOT buried with his parents at St. Romuald. I think it probable that he was buried in an unmarked pauper's grave and the record lost. Regardless, the only evidence we have suggests Garfield, so until something more conclusive comes to light, I am leaving the burial place as Garfield. Let me know if you ever have anything solid and I can make the change accordingly. I allow the change of birthplace to "Hardinsburg" although that seems to be questionable and we only know for certain that he was born somewhere in Breckinridge Co.
Regards.

I made the edits you requested, thank you. Can you re-verify Darrell & Glenda's marriage date? Sounds like you are saying that the tombstone shows "Wed Dec. 10 1973". However, the "Ky. Marriage Index 1973-1999" on ancestry.com shows that they were married on Jan. 22, 1974. Thank you - Bill Cheatham (Member #47076759)
