Bio and Links
Bio Photo "Do not regret growing old. It is a privilege denied to many."

I grew up in central Missouri where my ancestors settled, most from KY; I often return and photograph country cemeteries and haunt the library reference departments. Looking for gravestones for my Wells, Lane/Lain, Hazlewood/Hazelwood, Bellamy/Bellomy, Thoroughman/Thurman, Stayton, Pullen/Pullin/Pulliam, Gregg/Gragg, Rigg, Page families; others include Dunning, Gant, Payne, Settles/Suttle(s), Sudduth, Stoneking, Stewart, Shelten, Stoll.

A goal is to ensure there are memorials for all known burials in the "country" cemeteries in the Bates/Cass/Henry counties where my ancestors lived and are interred, and am photo indexing as many as I can - some are in woeful condition. Too many are now in cow pastures, vandalized or stones used in barn foundations. May those with so little respect for our ancestors be haunted by their ghosts.

Corrections, updates and link requests are welcomed so "our" memorials are informative and accurate -- please send maiden names if you know them. Every person has a story - hopefully memorial managers who prefer not to update or correct their memorials will transfer them to the requesting family member/friend to maintain and add the story -- or there will be a software update that allows third parties to contribute to memorials. Thanks to all the administrators who make the site available and user-friendly, and to the many great volunteers who make "finding Grandma" possible. Special thanks to photo volunteers who spend hours searching for lost grave markers, sometimes in overgrown, tick and snake infested, unkept, unmarked cemeteries.

You are welcome to use information or grave marker photos I have entered. If you do a copy/paste of a memorial with a bio, please copy the entire memorial which includes my name, date entered and the memorial number at the very bottom -- a LOT of time and research has gone into many of these memorials. Please do not copy/post my "people" photographs on sponsored pages.

Please make your edit/transfer requests from the "edit" link of the memorial and not from the profile page which I don't view often. I generally don't transfer memorials with researched bios, nor do I transfer to requesters who are rude/demanding, have no profile, have two or more times memorials managed as entered, (some contributors claim an astonishing number of "grandparents") or who are collectors -- but I'll always update and link memorials within a day or two if not traveling.

Note - Had nerve injury in left arm/hand, 2010 surgery; smashed left hand in door 2011, broke two fingers; broke left wrist in 2012 - typos during each recovery process - please call them to my attention. 2013 - nerve damage prevents holding a camera, so my enjoyable hobby of photo-indexing cemeteries is over. Am using that time to enhance and link memorials.

When entering information from census records I use the spelling as it appears, even knowing it is wrong -- those aren't typos.
Happy graving - and remember to thank our Veterans and Active Service men and women.

RE: Zelma Pullen
Jeanette is buried in one row (grave purchased by Zelma) and Don is 'above' her in the next row. John Clark is buried next to her, but is about the same age as her (Find A Grave Memorial# 128373513). I looked around a bit, but the certainly aren't next to her unless I just plain missed it. Hers & Don's last names are Earnest. Don #128366538 & Jeannette # 128366563.

Yeah - kind of figuring out the divorce deal. lol

RE: Zelma Pullen
They had to record of James T or Clemmie/Clerissa Webb. Found Jeanette Earnest & Donald. How does John Clark fit in? They also had a James Gilbert, but not certain yet if that's her brother altough it does fit.

RE: Tebo church
My 3rd G Grandparents were members of the OLD Tebo church from the time they arrived in Benton Co MO in 1859 until their deaths in 1884(probably the first building, gone long ago). A lot of my family used to go to the old church. There used to be a Carleton Cemetery at the end of TT highway, with over 45 graves, and in the 1960's when they were "moving" the Cemetery, Dale M Chastain told me in 2008 that he watched the workers remove the stone put it on a flat bed truck, and scoop one shovel of dirt from where they took the stone and throw it on top of the stone, and repeated this for every grave. The bodies were NEVER exhumed...I don't want to imagine what is under the lake.

RE: Barbara Ann & Harold Dean
LaDon, I see no memorials for Floyd or Maud Nutt, but the cemetery shows they are buried in Englewood at Clinton...Never knew great uncle Claud had a twin...I knew there was a connection with Nutt, but somehow recalled it as McNutt, don't know where I got that from out of the clouds..Mom and dad went to the funeral for Floyd when I was real small...Thanks again...
