We've been vacationing in this lovely area of southeast Wisconsin since I was a teenager, and then 10 years ago, my husband and I decided to relocate here near beautiful Geneva Lake. I've fallen in love with this countryside, it's turned this suburbanite into a confirmed country girl.|
I'm researching Walworth County, Wisconsin, which is here in the southeastern part of Wisconsin, bordering on Illinois. I enjoy local history and find our country cemeteries fascinating and informative. I love doing research on the memorials I photograph, and if anyone has any requests for particular family research, I'd be happy to to help find your relatives for you here in Walworth County or nearby.
As for family: my late father had done a pretty thorough job of researching his side of our family, so I had a lot to go on when I began my family tree. The names are Cooper/Davis/McCammon/Bates/Gentry and the areas are Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, Mississippi, and Missouri.
My mother was born in Sweden, and I'm still struggling with her side of the family, I'm not at all fluid in Swedish, I heard it growing up at my Swedish relatives homes, but I saw little written Swedish as a child. I've found some interesting information though, with thanks to a Swedish "cousin" who is on Ancestry and who was looking for a relative who turned out to be from my maternal grandfather's family.
I've come a long way in years and miles from that little girl in my picture, and the trip has been like most one of winding roads, forked roads, clear skies, and thunderstorms - and I wouldn't trade the voyage for anything.
What I've found, though, is that looking back, as we do here on FAG, searching out not only our own but others' histories - and the histories of our towns and how and why we got here- it helps make this wonderful thing called life even more full and fascinating to me.
I'm delighted to be sharing this 'hobby' of research and photography with such a great group of people here at FAG, and I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can.

Well, hello ... back! Yes, we are apparently fourth cousins, we share 3rd great grandparents. Which son of Simpson McEnville Hagood and Elizabeth Garrison Hagood was your great grandmother Mary Almeda Hagood born from? I am descended from the Hagood's daughter Nancy Emily Hagood, who married William West (they are all buried in the same graveyard in Alpharetta).
It is very interesting to hear about you. I and my parents have always lived in North Alabama, where my grandfather, father, and myself followed the family tradition of being Methodist ministers. I had no idea until doing all this research that I was descended from the Garrison circuit riders, as you are also.

I sent an e-mail to Cheryl Dooley, asking her to link Harold to his mother Blanche.

Sorry, not sure, unless the bio wasn't there with the original entry.

I was simply adding Fanny's maiden name of Green and noting an alternate spelling of Burdeck found in some records. Also noted the county in NY, in case other researchers want to verify the info.

my sincere thanks, this adds to the story :)
Hi! Can you send me your email? Eliza Davis married N.Z. Mothersead, who in turn had Frank, who had Keith. Happy to share info! I have quite a bit on the McCammon's, but very little on the Davis'.

I noticed the flowers on the Mothersead graves (McFal Cemetery). Keith Mothersead was my grandfather. I have lots of family history if you would like it.
