| Request for Transfer of Memorial
Hi Bob,
My name is Shelley McMinn Anderson. I was born and raised in Carmichaels. My cousin, Paul McMinn, is the 'go to' person for the New Providence Church Cemetery (also known as the Glades).
The story goes that about 25 + years ago the group of men who took care of the cemetery records for the Glades had a disagreement and the records were destroyed. We have been working for the last 9 months to create cemetery records for the Glades.
It was thought there were 800 souls buried there, we now have over 1,000 souls buried there. About 180 of those no longer have headstones.
We are making a new map (the old one is from 1934), a sign will be posted at the top of the hill, and markers at the end of each row.
We were wondering if you would consider transferring the cemetery page to us, and any memorials you have posted. Of course, if any of those memorials are of family, we would understand if you do not wish to.
I feel I can say at this time, we have cemetery records for the Glades. We have researched everyone buried there; so far I have obits for about 600 of those buried there.
