Thank you so much for working on this for me! I bet that is her, even though the birth year is off. The death year is correct. I'm excited to see the photo! I really appreciate your kindness....thanks again!

Hi Susan! You're welcome for the photos; they were done from a photo request from the contributor known as Christy (her number is 46780434) so she may be a relative of yours. I venture to that cemetery on rare occasions for photo requests but I do have to tell you, it is not in a very good neighborhood and even though that doesn't bother me, it is the guy who runs the place that bothers me. He is very nice once you get to know him, but he was very suspicious of Find A Grave a few years ago. He thought we were gathering names for 'voter fraud' (I had to laugh at that!). Even though he now understands what we are doing, he keeps the mausoleums locked up and will not let people just go in to photograph; he escorts people in and does not leave them alone. So you can't just stand there for an hour or so and snap photos to put on this site. He does not have the time. And unfortunately, all of the oldest burials are in the mausoleums. Angeles Abbey started out as just mausoleums and the ground burials were added later. Also, there is no computerized system to look up the burials there. They are all done by hand in old ledgers so for this manager, it is all too time consuming. He has only a skeleton crew working for him. (No pun intended!)
So that is why there are 89 open photo requests for Angeles Abbey. He used to try to charge volunteers for look-ups. He doesn't charge me, but I have only asked him for 3 or 4 at a time. At that rate, it would take me forever to get it caught up. And if I went every week, or even every month, I think I would wear out my welcome.
You might try calling him and ask for the location. His name is Oscar. Tell him that you live out of state and that you are sending a Find A Grave volunteer to take photos. (If you tell him it is 'Bonnie' he will know who I am.) I don't know if that will work, but you can try. If you get a positive response, he may ask you what day the volunteer is coming. If that occurs, please get back to me and I'll see if I can make it happen.

Hello, the photo that you took some time ago of the burial site of Cousin Robert, has proven to be a wonderful find. It seems that we have been able to locate his wife, Margaret Parks, who was the daughter of Rev Calvin M Parks and Susan Van Ness. Rev Parks was the founder of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan Utah, founded in 1878.He died in Salt Lake City in 1886. We believe that Robert and Margaret were married by her father, in the New church. Still have yet to confirm that data. But we know that Robert and Margaret (Maggie) were only married for a very brief time. In the 1880 Fed Censu for Logan, it showed Rev Parks his wife Susan V Parks in Logan and the next line showed Maggie Shirley listed as Post Master for the City of Logan as a widow. Magaret went on to marry in 1894, Alfred Shorten of Cache County, Utah, and they moved to Los Angeles, in 1895 where they had two daughters, Alice and Lois. Margaret died there in 1824. and Alfred died there in 1947.
Thought you might enjoy the rest of the story. Still am looking for where Margaret was buried. As yet nothing. Alfred and second wife are buried in LA, as is daughter Lois Margaret. Once again thanks for the photo.
