Youíre welcome Cindy,
Unfortunately I could find no inscription to his memory when I visited the church and churchyard.
There appears to be only one tomb in the floor of the chancel [without any inscription], which I took to be his motherís based on your description.
I did not see any tombstones with legible inscriptions earlier than 1737 in the churchyard, although my visit was cut short because of a heavy downpour.
|Danny Thomas||John C. Thomas|
John Covington Thomas was my G G grandfather and James Stephens Thomas was my G grandfather. We live about 4 miles from the unmarked graves of John C Thomas and his wife Sarah. Is there any way we can receive copies of these photos? I have a copy of John C when he was young but not of these. Please email me.

You are very welcome.

Driving North on I-59, take the Vossburg exit off I-59. Turn east and go about one quarter mile. Cemetery is on north side of County Road 39, unmarked from the road. Look for a single lane dirt entrance road.

It is much easier if you request the transfer from the memorial page. That way I have the memorial number and your contributor number all in one place.

Thank you, Cindy. I'll follow up on this and see what I can find.

Interesting. Thank you Cindy for this information. I have Martha as Martha S. Brown (no information as to what the S is for. born 1785 to Thomas Branch Brown and Mary Susan Pettus and died 11 June 1859. She married burgess bird lay in 1805. I will follow up on her children too. I have found discrepancies in other family trees but don't use those until I have documented and verified as much as possible. I have another source for my family as well. Martha S Brown is my 5th great grandmother. Now is this the same one? More research ahead. Thank you for your help.

Good morning Cindy, thank you for working on our family tree. I am a descendant of Thomas Brown through Martha Brown. I am confused and perhaps you have some additional information. Obviously there are a lot of names that are the same. Thomas had a daughter named Martha Elizabeth and one named Mary. I think my 4th grandmother was Martha, but I have seen her name as Martha E., Martha S and just Martha. I have found evidence of a Martha Swindle, Martha Lay (married to Bird Lay) and find-a-grave shows on Thomas' listing her name as Martha Brown Jackson. You can see why I might be confused. Any help you can give me on these names will help.
