Bio Photo ATTENTION: I have completed my move to Florida (Youngstown, Florida, to be exact) and it will still be a couple months until I get back into the full swing of things on findagrave. Because of this situation, any updates, corrections, transfers, etc. may not be completed in a timely manner. Please bear with me as my wife and I move in and become more familiar with our new surroundings.

As a result of this relocation, I will no longer be available for Pennsylvania photographs or research and it will take quite some time to become as familiar with Bay County, Florida and surrounding areas.

========================

Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

Dalrymple Family
I am adding memorials to East Unity and trying to do updates and corrections as I go. I have far to go!
I was adding more Dalrymple's and I noticed that you manage the memorial for Hugh Dalrymple. I add two wives and a child. I do not know how the others are related.
If this is your family and you are interested in managing the memorials, please let me know. I just read that you moved; I hope you like Florida. I have been there a few times. It is WAY to hot for me.

Archibald Marshall
He is located in Ebenezer Cem., Indiana Co, PA. I am confused by the dates posted and what is inscribed on the headstone/military marker. Did Lady Mayflower have sources to confirm her dates? Thanks for all your hard work.

Henry Hallman @ Milton Cemetery
Hi Burke,

RE: "his marker states he is a "Jr", that means his father had the same name as he did"

Actually, this is not correct in this case...

Henry Adam Hallman's (1892-1920) death certificate lists his parents as John Hallman and May Hetrick, with his father, John Hallman (1869-1930), listed as the informant.

Henry's grandparents were Henry A. and Julia Hallman. His grandmother, Julia (1841-1895) was 51 years old at the time of his birth.

Also, the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Federal Census list him as the son of John and May Hallman. In the 1920 census, Henry is listed with his wife, Hazel, and their two children.

I'll resubmit my edit for the links to Henry Adam Hallman's parents. Thanks in advance for making these corrections. I appreciate your help with the Hallman family.

St Thomas Church, Gastown, Pa
Hi Burke,
I did some Gastown Cemetery requests and they are at the St Thomas Church Cemetery. Not the church you have pictured for the Gastown Cemetery page. There are 2 churches next to each other and their cemeteries meet.

I don't know, did you check with the churches about the cemeteries? My family in the 1800's went to the St Thomas Church of Gastown where my gr gr grandfather was a deacon.

I greatly appreciate all of the hard work you are doing. Which part of Florida are you going to? I have relatives in Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach, etc. Thank you, Gwen Cresswell

RE: Cloud Bechtel
I'm not nuts. His name is actually McCloud. Just so you don't think I've been drinking or something. Have you moved yet?

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery - Chicora
You seem to be the "expert" in this part of the country. Do you know which cemetery is/was referred to as Mt. Pleasant in Chicora area? I have several obits that state this is the burial place but there is no listing on Find-a-Grave. Thanks!

Fairview Cemetery
Burke,
I was wondering if you had any contact information for the Fairview Cemetery in Kecksburg. I am trying to find information on distant relatives that may be buried there but have been unsuccessful in finding a phone number for whoever maintains the records. It appears from TribLive that this is an active cemetery or at least it was still taking new burials within the last few years so there must be some way of getting in touch with the office. Any info you could provide would be helpful. Good luck with the move!
Thanks,
Melanie
