|I am a PK (Pastor's Kid), so I have lived in many different places during my lifetime, and I don't really claim any one of them as "home", although I did live in northern Virginia for 25 years as an adult.|
But both of my parents were born and raised in the farming community of Meadow, near Benson, NC, and both of their families have lived in Johnson County for generations. This makes it relatively easy to research my ancestors. But there are over 1000 cemeteries in Johnston County, and many of them are not easy to find. I enjoy visiting cemeteries and looking for an unexpected surprise.
I enjoy taking photos for other people who are not so lucky to have most of their ancestors in one geographical area. I think of my grave searches as scavenger hunts.

Sorry - I don't live on that end of the state. My interest is as some of the burials there relate to my project at the state hospital in Goldsboro. I've come across similar cemeteries in NC and SC. There may be little we can do to preserve them for the long haul other than photograph the markers. Perhaps a local church might take interest....or a scout troop. I suppose this is a good time of year to clear it so that one doesn't have to deal with spiders and snakes. Thanks for your efforts.

i live in clayton. i am willing to lend a hand with clearing brush. we don't have to be descendants to be granted access...we count as folks with "special interest". if we had to, we could get a court order to let us in. i keep a copy of the general statutes of NC that cover cemeteries in my truck all the time. i love cemeteries in the woods, the harder to get at the better! i don't have the dates right in front of me, but those folks would be 150 years old in some cases now, wouldn't they? likely some far-flung relatives who just don't know any cousins in the area. seriously, though, i assume that if only 32% of the graves are photographed in a small old family plot like that, that's all the stones there are but there are also some unmarked graves. most of that type i go to are that way: like 3 marked and 25 unmarked or marked only with a rock. anyway, nice to meet you. i have a pretty flexible schedule, and could meet you there with tools! feel free to contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org Jimmy Lloyd

hey i just signed up as a photo volunteer, and i'm getting hit with requests for stones in this cemetery that you posted some photos from. my guess is that since the photos aren't very old that i won't find anything you didn't. mind if i ask if you photographed all the stones that were visible and the rest of the graves are likely unmarked? thanks...hoping to not do the same job twice ;)

Incorrect photo attached to this memorial: 102943909. You do have the correct photo of their headstone attached to his wife: 102943905.
Thanks for all your great photos and work.

Thank you for all the messages. We are not related to the Temples, just a volunteer adding info when I can to help other people who may be looking for a loved one. My husband has some family members buried in a few areas in North and South Carolina, as well as Virginia. I'll put a note on Ransom's memorial about the other cemetery. Just let me know when have the info in for the other cemetery. We live in South Chesterfield County, Virginia. I've lived in this area most of my life. My husband lived in Richmond, Virginia for a while before moving to the South Chesterfield County area. He has a lot of medical issues that keeps him from doing a lot of things. I'll keep you in mind if I may need help with something. Again thanks for all the help and info. Talk to you soon. God Bless.

Thank you for the photos. I tried to move his memorial to the other cemetery, but the only cemeteries that came up in Johnston, Pine Level area were Starling Cemetery and Starling Family Farm Cemetery, no Starling Temple Cemetery. Would it be one of the two in the Johnston, Pine Level area, or some where else? Appreicate any help with this. Thank you.
