"Dear Ancestor,

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out,
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care...
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come visit you."

(This poem was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer)

I work hard to get my information as accurate as possible and am thankful when other contributors do the same. I generally don't enter information such as inscriptions that are easily readable from the picture (why by redundant?), but I'm happy to make any corrections needed. Just please use the "Edit" tab on the memorial. It's easier to manage the emails that way. Thanks!

Photo's: Please feel free to make copies of the photo's that I have taken and posted here. I do ask that if you post them to other websites please give me credit for taking them as a courtesy.

Thank you for taking a photo of Helen's gravesite. Even though there was no headstone, it was very sweet of you to take a lovely picture of her spot. She was my aunt and died at 15 days old. God bless.

Thank you so much for providing the photo and Civil War service information for my 3rd great-grandfather. What a great surprise for my family.

Would it be okay if I use your photo on James's entry on ancestry.com, with the proper credit to you and this website.

Thanks again,
Eileen

Did you notice what is on the stone in front of the Williams? I can see just the top of another stone.

RE: The Tucker Headstone
Wish I knew who that was cuz it was probably a relative that I haven't met. By the way, it was nice to see that the headstone was in great shape, too. Thanks again! =0)

The Tucker Headstone
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't express how excited and grateful I am to see the headstone for my great grandmother and my namesake. I do appreciate your time and effort so very much. With your photo I've added Catherine and Edward's children, William Tucker and Anna Tucker Leavitt to the cemetery and made a photo request so that you can get credit for fulfilling the request. Again, thank you so much! God bless! =0)

Thank you so much for finding the burial plot for Thomas, and for telling me there isn't a stone. You really went above and beyond to help me and I certainly appreciate your efforts. Thank you!
