RE: Suggested change Ely cemetery - Lindblom
I understand completely. One of our ancestors came from Norway with the patronymic name of Sørensen and changed it 3x before choosing the final name at the time of his becoming a US citizen.

RE: Photo of marker Dan(iel) Lindblom
Of course feel free to use the photo. I don't know if it's any interest to you, but loaded up four other Lindbloom's who were also buried near your Daniel.

Temporary Stones
Yes these markers were placed around the time of burial. The are made of cement and were meant to be temporary. There are quit a few throughout our local cemeteries. I guess families who could not afford a head stone or did not want to buy one just let these act as the persons permanent headstone.

Yes again, they get buried over time. These seem to be about 4 inches down. As for size maybe 16 x 8" we are close either way.

The bad thing about these stones is they erode easily and many are not legible. Having been buried acted as a type of preservation.

I was able to recheck the cemetery records and with better weather a bit of probing located their temporary headstones. These headstones were placed by the cemetery and not the family

Hej Olle!

Many thanks for the photos and your research. I've fixed up Olof's bio a bit to reflect your additional information. It's greatly appreciated!

Take care, Bob
