I am a DAR member and 4 of my grandfathers fought in the Revolutionary War.
PLEASE NOTE that I have no photo containing the text "unmarked grave". I also have no photo of a generic image of a grave to represent an unmarked grave. All the photos are THE EXACT GRAVE OF THE PERSON. I USED BOOKS FROM GENEALOGY SOCIETIES AND WENT ROW BY ROW TAKING PHOTOS OF EACH GRAVE. IF THE MARKER WAS SUNK UNDERGROUND OR MISSING, I TOOK A PHOTO OF THAT PERSON'S EXACT GRAVE, NOT GENERIC.
Please note, If you take a photo or add stories obituaries etc. to my memorial I have created, I am going to use the information gleaned from those in my private family research and thank you in advance. If I add a photo, story or obit, you are welcome to the information, but please be sure, especially on portraits, that you reference WHO the photo is of.
My memorials…..are awesome, outstanding, works of art in progress and getting better all the time! I am making masterpieces and if a dearly departed is lucky enough to have me as their findagrave creator…I am slowing creating truly wonderful memorials on their behalf, that enlighten, endear and give a glimpse back in time to a life, a time and a place that no longer exists. If you want to see just a very few examples, here are just a tiny sprinkle of my growing mountain of beautiful memorials.

There are many great creators like me on findagrave. I love reading their memorials and going link by link to weave through history and families….it can be an amazing journey with findagrave. It drives me crazy how many others just gobble up memorials, do nothing with them…not even so much as adding one link, one maiden name, one record, obit, headstone photo and then have the nerve to post on their bios about how much work they do and how dare people ask for their relatives after they have done all the work. My opinion…if a memorial has not been improved in say 2 yrs, then it is removed from that person and given to another contributor.
I DO do the work. I am dedicated to all those under my care and just hope to get as many under my protection as I can and save them from an eternity of internet obscurity by those that hoard the deceased.

If I have a family member of yours and you want to create a meaningful memorial and if they are not my family, you may ask for a transfer. I will entrust any memorial I have created to family dedicated to making them a fitting memorial.

Thanks very much for posting the photo of the Greer marker. I have photos but haven't gotten around to scanning and adding them. I think your picture is better than the ones I have.
I agree wholeheartedly with you about gobblers - I'm having trouble with some in another state who want to hold on, with a tight fist, to my relatives and not let me create a memorial to them. I say to everyone - share, share, share! No more hoarding!

So great to hear from you. Thank you for the offer - I will take you up on it. However, I would like to contribute something, but have just started my own research. Your information has been very helpful. I will be visiting my grandmother (Edith's daughter) this weekend for her 98th Birthday. I will speak with my aunt who is the caretaker and holder of the family photos. I know that grandma has some pictures, but I don't think they go back past Amanda's parents. I will also be speaking with my aunt from Texas and maybe between the three of us we can place time periods to the time that my grandmother lived with her grandmother Amanda in Homewood, KS. My grandmother was born in Beaver, Oklahoma in 1915. Her father was Clarence Cook and I believed died when she was young - I don't beleive there was a divorce. I will make sure that I have the correct information on why the kids where with Amanda. Plus, I will get their birthdays and that will explain which one of the boys was not living with Amanda - there were two girls and three boys -Edith's children. Have you been communicatig with Francis' son Jerry? I was just curious who had provided information on Edith and Francis ( she is also buried at Argicola, KS with her second husband).

I just read your bio & I agree with you 100%. Although I don't do as much with the memorials as you, I do believe we should add as much to them as possible. I've tried to do that when I have info or photos. I just love it when I find an ancestor where someone has added info to their memorial. It does let you know something about the person & their life. I also try to get links added for distant relatives from my tree. Most contributors are good to add info, but some never will. Sadly, they seem to miss the whole point. Your attitude is so great! Please keep up your good work.
