Forty some years ago I served in Vietnam and for whatever reason I now feel compelled to find photographs of all 87 men in my unit that were "killed in action". I still have about 17 men to locate and bring back home. We need not only to remember their names but also never forget their faces. If you are interested in these men and the unit in which they served then you can click on the link below:|

I knew John, we rode the same bus to Holy Rosary School. John was in 7th or 8th grade and I was in first. After he passed away, I was the alter boy at his funeral. I'll try to take a better photo than the one already in Find A Grave

I deleted the photo for David Olsen, there is a photo posted on that memorial. Thanks for letting me know.

|Dreaming Casually||Re: Max Lopez|
Hi, Regarding the photo you posted. I am sure you found it on one of those pages for fallen soldiers so you felt it was accurate, but it is not. My dad was his best friend, and both he, my mom (who also was his friend) and several other people who went to Anaheim High with him saw the photo and mentioned that is not Max. My mom recognized who that person actually is. He was another fellow from Anaheim, named David Lopez. I think someone got the info wrong and posted David's photo instead of Max. You can even contact me via email and I would be happy to have my mom call you to let you know. Bottom line, is the photo you posted of Max, is not Max. The photo above that I posted is Max. It is obvious to see they are two completely different people. Please remove the photo. Thanks. (I have already tried to contact the various websites that also have his wrong photo as well).

Contributor Dreaming Casually sent me an e-mail stating that the photograph you posted to SP4 Lopez's memorial is not him-can you review? Thanks for all your work on Find-A-Grave.
|Carrie and Allen||Thank you for your service|
I think that what you are doing, locating all of the fallen warriors from your unit, is beautiful. Keep up the wonderful work, and accept my heartfelt thanks for your service. Vietnam vets were maligned, mistreated, and ignored-- when they deserved and needed the accolades of a grateful nation. I have a son who's served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and when he finishes SF training will probably go back. We civilians can never know what you soldiers do to keep us safe, and we owe you all our gratitude.

Thank you David. From the information given it appeared to me that you had located the grave earlier. I will contact his son.
|Matthias Koch||Ref.: BENDER Gernot|
Hi Dave, wonder if you have more information abt. G. Bender's grave, esp. the exact location. Haven't been able to locate it so far. The site contains several BENDER graves as the name is pretty common here, but none of them looks like it has been added to. The site is discontinued, and more recent graves might be found on cemeteries around Giessen. Another cemetery on "Find A Grave" is clearly a duplicate of this one. On top of it all, the records of the Alter Friedhof Lutherberg have been destroyed in a fire in the pre-computer era, and have only partially recovered.
Thank You for your service and for remembering your comrades

You are very welcome, glad that I could help.
Thank you for what you are doing. It is important to remember. My son just became a U.S. Marine on 12 Oct. Bless you.
