RE: John L. Boronkay
I looked at the 1920 Census and it shows the Mother and Father coming here in 1903, Elsie and Margaret are recorded as Alien born in Hungary, Helen and the remaining children evidently born in the US. Forgot about Barbara Hancy. She was such a great gal...

Wow, I completely forgot about asking Bobby, however, I haven't seen him in quite some time.

Glad that the mystery has been cleared up, and it all sounds plausible. I didn't know that Margaret was married twice. I only knew her when she was married to Robert. I always got my hair cut by him at his barber shop, which was still running under the same name until early this summer. A Tractor Trailer loaded with cars came down the hill and crashed into the building that housed the barber shop in the basement. This it has been closed for a couple of months, not sure if it will re open after they restore the building.

The whole Boronkay family that I knew, John (Jack), Joe, Helen, Ann, Rose, Julia, Mary, & Elsie, all were fun to be around, including their spouses and children, some of whom I still run into once in a while. I miss all of them.

Hungarians In Ithaca
I just recently saw your additions to my posts for my great grandparents, Steve & Julianna Pete. My interest was peaked when it came to the photo of Steve Pete. I would be interested in finding out what other items you may have.
Regards,
Daniel

RE: John L. Boronkay
I was at the cemetery today and looked at the headstones for Dan and Ann Desmond. His name is Daniel J. Desmond, born in 1906 and died 8/13/64. Ann died 9/15/82. I never knew about two marriages or a daughter. The next time I see Bob Romanowski, I'll ask him about it.

RE: John L. Boronkay
Wow, you have a bit more information than I had, of course I was not doing the family history on them, just recalling what I remember.

Ann Desmond, I didn't know she was married twice and had a daughter. I knew her when she was married to Danny. I think Danny and Ralph are one in the same. He died sometime in the 1960's or early 70's. Ann died later on, out of state.

Who are your parents?

Yes, Barbara was a popular Waitress, she was always a happy person. I have lost track of their son.

Helen Romanowski had two children, Robert and Patricia. Robert and his wife Ellie, still live in the Ithaca area. I haven't seen Patty in several years, I believe she still lives in the state. Helen was always a fun person to be around.

I worked at Cornell University with Mary B. Rightmire for several years. She had two sons, have lost track of both of them.

I haven't seen Joe Boronkay's son, Jeff since Norma died.

Julia Radzik was a jolly person, full of fun and had one of the nicest husbands any woman could want. They had two sons, one still lives in the Ithaca Area, named Jack. Retired from Time Warner Cable a few years ago. I saw him this past summer at an event we were both attending.

I knew Elsie, however her husband died years before I knew her. I used to call her Sir Winston, because back in the early 1960's she would wear tan Bermuda Shorts (as they were called back then) and looked rather stately. She got a kick out of the nickname.

Ann Desmond moved from Newfield to Ithaca some years ago and lived in an apartment near where I now live. She and her husband, Danny were corkers. Danny was quite a booze hound. Ann never got as tipsy as he would. He was quite a joker.

I didn't get to know Rose and her husband very well. They seemed to stay to themselves.

RE: John L. Boronkay
I knew all of John's sisters and brother, Joe. Sadly that generation is gone. John's wife, Mildred is still alive, around 85 years old, and resides in Cortland, NY. I haven't seen her in a couple of years however we do keep in contact.

John L. Boronkay
Wondering if you are a relative of the Boronkay Family. Before I was married, I lived with John and Mildred on Hudson Street, in Ithaca, NY
