Bio Photo FINDAGRAVE guidelines strictly prohibit using anything - shaving cream, flour, cornstarch, any abrasive substance or scraping of headstone. Please refer to the FAQs (Frequently asked questions).

PLEASE DO NOT post picture of grave stone that any of the above methods used for better picture to any memorial we have posted. Thank you!

TRANSFERS: Per FaG guidelines.

For corrections or linking please use EDIT tab - right upper corner on each memorial.

Most, NOT ALL, our memorials were made when we walked cemetery and recorded from stone. We prefer to leave names as they were recorded from stone and enter suggested names added to bio section.*** FaG guidelines per names as follows (does not mention the old custom of wife using Mrs. preface to husband's given name. I did the first request and changed Mrs. John Doe to her given name and sure enough now there is a duplicate. I have check further for clarification of the new naming convention.

First of all I would like to thank you for giving of yourselves to help others. May God richly bless you each for your hard work and talents used for Find A Grave. You are helping MANY people. I have been making this journey of family building since the 80's and for many years toured many cemeteries seeking relatives. Now because of my age and poor health I am unable to go in person but thanks to you an others I can still visit their graves, see their head stones. I hope you will not mind my making copies of your photos for my Ancestry and Family Tree Maker family files. I am trying to leave my descendants and other extended family a good picture of their heritage. Again many thanks for your dedication to helping others.

RE: Carroll P. Byrd #5432453
Well, you would not believe this, but I just corrected ALL 160 Bryd on Findagrave to Byrd. NONE with a gravestone had Bryd, all had Byrd; those without gravestone had family with Byrd, and those without even family links often had Byrd in same cemetery.....
Many typos etc on Findagrave. That's why I have submitted 20,053 corrections so far.... and no end in sight. Sigh. (smile)
Have a nice day.

RE: Edmonds
I went to Daily & Hillcrest cemetery last week when we had that beautiful (but windy) 74 degrees and photographed every stone (close to 1,000 pic's). It took me 3 trips to do Hillcrest as I only have 5 memory cards and I had to run home to download & then go back to continue. I am extremely surprised that the cemetery is only listing 83% photographed. I have posted every stone that wasn't already there. You should not be receiving anymore "edits" from me on this cemetery. I will be making 1 more trip as there was 2 stones I could not take because of a pending burieal and 1 pic that did not come out because of the camera strap getting in the way. But this will wait until the first grass cutting. There is a section there that I may have missed some due to leaves covering the markers. Michelle

RE: Clyde Edmonds FaG #91996001
I could not find a birth or death cert on him in ancestry. There are family trees with him and they are using the 1924 yr as his dob. I am more prone to believe the regular stone vs the military stone as people back then often "fudged" on their age to either work, get in the army, etc. There are several people on my family tree that did that. Whenever I come across stones with 2 dates, I try to locate more info on them from ancestry to find the correct info and when possible, will attach a copy of it. Thanks for letting me know. Michelle Have a good day.

Thank you for your help.

MARGARET LLOYD
Since you have transferred Ralph Waldo Lloyd to my management, would you mind terribly transferring his wife Margaret Anderson Bell Lloyd to my management. I know my wife would appreciate that. Her Findagrave.com memorial number is 7849162. Thank you for considering my request.

Deanna,

I will only touch on a couple of things, one is when I submitted the first SAC through the edit tab and you denied it, no problem, I went to the FAQ's found the section where it handles this issue and copied it for you and sent it to you via the message. I then waited a couple of days, and submitted it again. You again denied it. That would be blatant since you knew the guidelines said you should correct it and you didn't anyway. Not sarcastic, not bullying, just the truth, us old folk should be able to handle that by now. As for your interpretation of the FAQ in question, perhaps you should read it again. It does not say (WHEN A INITIAL is only in the name field and the name is known use the known name) as you have stated in your message to me. This is what it does say:

First Name
First name of the deceased. Put the entire first name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial. Do not include titles or other prefixes in the First Name field.

Middle Name
Middle name of deceased. Put the entire middle name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Nickname
Nickname of deceased, if known; the nickname is automatically placed in quotes.

Maiden Name
Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank); the maiden name is automatically italicized and is only used if the individual was married and took the spouse's last name as their new last name. If the deceased was never married, then the last name is placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.

It says to use the full name if known, EVEN IF it is an initial. Which is quite clear, you should use the full name if known...........even if it is an initial. In other words IN ALL CASES, use the full name if known. Since you slandered me in your message as sarcastic and bullying I will not contact you again about this, there are other avenues to resolve it. Think about this though.....thousands of people come to this sight to find memorials in their family, whether they are immediate or distant, they have a desire to find out what they want to know. Findagrave states in their FAQ's "Find A Grave is a resource for ANYONE in finding the final disposition of family, friends, and 'famous' individuals." Now how can a person who is not close to the family, but is still part of the family, who does not know a knickname find a memorial? If you truly are a volunteer and are intent on serving the purpose of Findagrave then do it Findagrave's way and not your own. A memorial is a reference, a resource of the final disposition of the deceased, but correcting the memorial as Findagrave instructs you are not changing the gravestone, you are only making it easier to be discovered which is Findagraves objective.

Sincerely, Bob DeLozier
