I have been doing family history for over 10 yrs and finally decided this is a great place to memorialize those ancestors. |
I have been walking a local cemetery taking as many pictures as I can. Most are lawn markers and many have started to sink down. I try to get as much info as I can and then post. I only post if I have a picture. So many are so sunken I cannot even get a name, let alone dates. Sorry but I don't keep any of the pictures after they are posted. So if you want a better one request it and I will try my best.
At one time I thought it would be nice to transfer graves to a family member but now I have reservations. Instead I get messages that request a transfer "just because" no please, no telling me this is my great uncle, just transfer cause they are in the family. I have now decided to follow the guidelines of FAG. I will still add any info to a grave, but it is also nice to hear a please once in awhile.
Leave a public message.

I started building a family tree for close friends years ago, but only the maternal side of the family as my friend's paternal parents were from Lithuania. The only information to go from was a name and the fact that her father was born in Chicago.
Last week I started updating files on the maternal side and for the heck of it, decided to do a quick search on the original spelling of her dad's name. OMG!! Several records popped up, among which was the Find A Grave memorial. You have no idea how excited I was to see the memorial you created. And photos - it has pictures of the tombstone, making it that much more real.
As far as we know, Rafel Yasulaitis had one son, my friend's father, who is now 92 years old living in Phoenix, AZ. I am giving my thanks to you before writing to my friends to let them know I've found the father/grandfather. I am so happy and grateful to you, my fellow Find A Grave member, for making this possible! You have made the Laitis family very, very happy. ~ Nancy

Hello. I was researching my great grandmother, June Leneve Abner, and noticed that she is listed in FindAGrave as June Levene Abner. I tried to edit, but this did not take for some reason. Maybe if you try to correct this misspelling, you might be successful. Thank you for your help!

If you use the "edit tab" on the memorial you can make the changes yourself. All I have to do is accept them or decline.
