I've lived in Acushnet, MA. since 1958. |
My parents, maternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles are at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford so I started adding to the entries there to aid others researching their genealogy and got hooked on photographing stones and adding to the data here.
I've also been posting many of my headstone photos under my user name "trinka5364" at Ancestry.com.
This should help users of both sites add them to their trees and at least when copied from the tree, the photo is attributed to me. I find it irritating when I see photos I've posted to memorials here have been added to Ancestry.com under other users names with no acknowledgement. It may be your relative but I'm the one who went to the cemetery and took the picture, and for some difficult stones I may have made a second trip to get a better shot, so please have the courtesy to give credit to the photographer when copying.
Please don't hesitate to ask for a transfer of any relative of yours that I've entered, no matter how distantly related. I'm not related to most of the memorials I've created and always like to see them in the care of family.

Thanks for contacting me. I haven't done any research on the House family for some time and would not have known when and where my gggreat-uncle had died. Appreciate your willingness to do this. Unfortunately a few on F.A.G. wouldn't have done so. Again, thank you.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you; but, am in the process of moving.
I am almost certain that your memorial is the correct one. Since Isaac's father was a Methodist minister also, I would say that this is the same man. I'm glad to know when he died and where he is buried.
Since he is my gggrandfather's brother, I would like to maintain his memorial. I will correct mine and if you would add your picture, I would be very greatful. Thank you.

My brother contacted the company that did the engraving and they will fix the date problem when the weather warms up and will clean the stone too. Thanks for calling attention to the mistake!

Thanks for your message. I hadn't visited Horatio's memorial page since I created it in 2011, and now, within the past fortnight, both you and another graver contacted me about it. The search engine isn't always reliable, as an already existing memorial may not turn up if non-established info is added to the search page, so I hadn't been aware of the one created in 2008. I'm not a "duper", and appreciate the heads up.

Thanks for transferring Susie and Amy to us. I also want to thank you for noticing the DOD for Susie. When we visited the gravestone several years ago, we noticed that Susie and Amy had never been added to the stone so my brother made arrangements to have that done. We had never seen the end result(we all live in Maine now)and didn't know of the mistake until you pointed it out. I plan to add Amy's(Fanny to us) and Charles' story at some point. He was a whaling captain and she was on the ship-iced in at Herschel Island in the Artic- when he died. She kept him on ice all winter, brought him back to San Francisco where he was embalmed, and then brought him by train back to New Bedford for burial. She and Susie(a widow early also) raised my grandfather as his parents died from tuberculosis when he was quite young.
