We recently moved too Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:

◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.

◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.

◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.

Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.

If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?

On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.

I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Memorial # 80830664 Joseph Novy
Hi! Thank you again, for all of your work with the Memorials. It means so much to our families.

In the "Bio" of Joseph Novy's Memorial (#80830664), it incorrectly identifies his parents as Frank Serap Novy (#80830657) and Josephine Bulin Novy (#80830663).

But, there is already a Memorial for their son, Joseph (#75929199), which has the correct birth-and-death dates, and which is correctly linked to his parents.

Thank you for doing any follow-up that is needed. All of your efforts are really appreciated.

Forks Cemetery - Stockertown, PA family memorials
Hi Carrie and Allen!
You have been kind to transfer several memorials to me in the past. I have spent a little time looking through some additional records that you have posted for the Forks Cemetery in Stockertown, Pennsylvania and have found additional records there that I would like to have transferred.
Would you please transfer the following memorials to me. My Find-a-Grave # is 47151246:

My Great-grandfather, Warren Henry Bowers #31520530
His wife, My great-grandmother, Sarah A Paff Bowers #31520529
Sarah's father, my great-great-grandfather, Jacob H. Paff #31523074
Sarah's mother, my great-great-grandmother, Arminda Paff #31523066 (BTW - her maiden name was Darrohn)

There are additional Bowers and Paff close family members that I will be happy to manage if you transfer them to me. Otherwise, if you could update their records to reflect the addtional information below, I'd appreciate it.

Wilson Henry Bowers #31520531 is the husband of Cula May Graver #31520525

Sarah A Paff Bowers (#31520529)siblings (children of Jacob H Paff and Arminda Darrohn Paff):

Jacob Frey Find A Grave Memorial# 31521201
In his bio you say Jacob's son, Charles Frey, b. 17 Feb 1807, is buried in Row 7 of the old section of Forks Cemetery. Charles is buried with his wife Anna Nancy Gibble/Gibbel in Kreiders Church of Brethren Cemetery in Manheim, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, not in the Forks Twp Cemetery. Charles was born, according to the gravestone and the Gerberich Collection, 13 Feb 1807, and died 26 Feb 1883. Find A Grave Memorial# 83660851.

It appears Anna's parents, Joseph & Elizabeth (Wolf) Gibbel, lived in Lancaster County all their lives.

Thank You, so much, for correcting Anna Tydrich's spouse status. The Memorials look great, now. Thanks, for everything.

Dora Fields
I have made some suggestions re: Dora Fields memorial # 48898570. I have added her month and year of birth from census information. I do not know the exact day of her birth. I would suggest the 15th day is her death day only and birth info should say only "Mar 1860" Thank you for considering these changes.

RE: Jane Jennie Compton
Dear Carrie and Allen,
I knew you'd moved, was just wondering if you had anything about this lady in your notes; I'll try to contact the cemetery when I'm doing better, have been doing too much and was told to rest up. I hope you both like Salem. I lived there in the early 1970's and, in Keizer in 1972. I was reading one night and learned it was named after the family that had a donation land claim in that area. I remember so many of the roads down there as winding around as they were either old DLCs or farms and went around the old property lines. Wish I'd done more exploring down there in the Four
Corners area North of town and other areas I don't recall any longer, it's been so long. I'm sure that Salem has grown so much by now as I was so amazed when I was in the area last, at least 10 yrs. ago. Portland just keeps growing and growing. I don't know where everybody's coming from, but am amazed and concerned about all of the new apartments being built, especially since many don't have any parking except on the streets, which is just inane, in my opinion. Not everybody rides bikes and takes Max; some of us are not able to do that any more. I'm so glad I bought a house with a garage and on what is now a bike route. Thanks, again, for all you do on Find a Grave. Take
Care. With all sincerity, Kathie L. Webb Blair

RE: Jane "Jennie" [White] Compton
Dear Carrie and Allen,
You've been a great help in the past with helping me locate ancestors. I am wondering if you were aware of Jane "Jennie" (White) Compton, the first wife of Samuel William Compton? She lived from 1861 to 1917 and I'm wondering if she could be in an unmarked grave at Juniper Grove Cemetery in Prineville. Her father was Edward Newton White (#31469594) and her mother was Annie (Woodsides) White (#31469593) who are both in unmarked graves. Edward's 1st wife was a relative of mine, Catherine Jane (Burkhart) White who had died in Albany, Oregon in 1859. Annie was Edward's 2nd wife and they had many children together, although I've only been able to find one, Edith White. I am still unable to find one of Catherine's daughters, Nettie White, b.1857. You two are great and I appreciate any help you can render. By the way, whatever happened to that @#% man, Christopher Kelley, who stole the headstones to decorate his backyard in Sellwood? I wasn't aware of this, just read the article and am wondering if he was ever convicted and sentenced for this horrible crime (that happens too often, and is so disrespectful to those who have passed on).
Thank you again for all of the work you've done on Find a Grave. You've been wonderful!
With All Sincerity, Kathie L. Webb Blair, Portland, Oregon
