This work is dedicated to my friend Carroll Pitman 1926- 2009. He showed me South Carolina's history and it's people in ways I never could have imagined. Like sturdy fabric our families are woven together. I feel blessed to have known him and worked with him. |
I am descended from William Crain - Shadrick Crain - Andrew Jackson Crain - Augustus G. Crain - Jefferson R. Crain - (Living) and myself. Others names Sherman (NY, CO) Whitaker (NC), Puett (NC),Bruce(SC), Duenweg (IN), Braymer (NY), Howard (SC), Johnson (IN), Allen (IN), Yancey and Zickefoose (Iowa +Va)... States most active in - SC, NC, GA, AL, CO, NY, MO, IN, IL, VA and Iowa.
Photos I have shared are copyrighted and are not to be published with out my written permission. Some photos I have lovingly shared and articles, that are in the possession of my family are now being used without recognition of the source.
Genealogy is based on fact. A connection must be made to make it acurate and true. The sources are what make it so. History isn't always pretty, though we may wish it so. But all of the tree, good and bad and sad makes a beautiful quilt. Full of character. It is not hard to love the quilt.
Mother of one and grandmother of two. Lover of all kinds of music and will never stop dancing.
One thing I learned from Carroll, is that if not properly sourced genealogy is nothing but a tale. It is a researcher's responsibility to find the truth. I would appreciate that if you wish to use the photos I have given you or photos and data from my site that you note the source.
I had two reasons for learning my family history. Both of my grandfather's died on my birthday. I met them each only once. Second, my health has always been bad and in this search I have found out why. I got double whammed on both sides of the maternal tree. Our history is so important.

You're quite welcome for the photo of the marker for Druery Dobbins. I attempted to straighten and crop the image since the original photo wasn't of ideal quality. I have posted a cropped image on the memorial page. You are welcome to download them for your records. ~ Regards, Jen

Hi! I hope you are doing well.
I do not have any information for the James Bruce you are researching. Best of luck in finding him.
|Christy McCranie Bare||Hello Again|

You are very special gift! Thank you so much!
|Luella Hinrichsen||Alfred Rhodes|
Hi, I see you left a flower and note that he was the son of James Marion & Loretta Howell Rhodes. Would you have links to them so I could link him to his parents? He is my son-in-laws grandfather.
|Polly Fry Hagerman||RE: Horace Finch|
Links have been made. Thanks for your help. Polly
|paths2present||RE: Rosella Hanfeld|
I'm sorry, I don't have any photos, I'm not related to the Shermans or the Hanfelds. Wonder if the person who created the memorials for Rosella's parents might have something?
Also did a quick search on ancestry.com--there is a guy working on the Hanfeld's, but he hasn't added any photos yet--wonder if he might have something? or might have a lead to a family member that might have photos?
Sorry I couldn't help, but good luck with your research!
|Jeffrey Ingwersen||James Henry Ford|
James Henry Ford is the father of Lloyd Ford. James is buried 2 miles down the road from Lloyd. If you want to link the two together, James's memorial number is 75281107
|Jeffrey Ingwersen||Lloyd & Anna Ford|
I was wondering if you wouldn't mind transferring both of them to me? Lloyd and Anna are my Great-Great Grandparents. Thank you in advance
|Barbara Arnold||George Sherman Bruce|
Thank you for the time and work you have given in photographing grave sites. They are very helpful in doing research. My family came from South Carolina to Texas in the early 1880's.
George Sherman Bruce was my grandfather. For reasons of his own, he never discussed his S.C. family. Since he died in 1935, I am unable to ask him. From what my mother told me, he wouldn't have answered anyway. Several of my aunts and one uncle remembered when they were children, a time when 2 men came to visit Grandpa. Their names were James and John Crain. By using that information, and the fact that they were from S.C., I found Grandpa's mother, who was married to Dennis Crain, and had several children. The census records show George Sherman living in the household of Dennis Crain.
I have searched for years for the father of George Sherman Bruce. I even had a cousin send in a DNA sample. So far, no luck. At one point, he is listed in the household of James Matthew Bruce, but seems much too young to be his son. More likely a grandson.
If youhave any information that can shed light on this question, I would appreciate it.
Barbara Mansker Arnold
