I am a retired engineer who spent career working in Houston, TX at oil & gas equipment design.
My early years/schooling were in Files Valley, TX, just east of Itasca in Hill County, TX. There is a cemetery there that my Dad kept records on in spiral notebook. After his death, I realized that the notebook with all his notes on who was buried where was lost. In 2007, I began recording the Files Valley Cemetery with friends living in the area. When we completed that, and uploaded to internet websites, we proceeded to add memorials to many cemeteries in NE Hill County.
Bonnie (Wife) and I have been researching our families - McEver, Robinson, Allen, Pruett, & Jordan.
My interest in genealogy comes from making contact with special distant cousins, Maurice Allen, Vicki Bullard and others. We've created a family tree at ancestry.com website.
A final thought on what FindAGrave means to me. It is an excellent tool for preserving the documentation (memorializing)of those who have gone before us. To this end, it doesn't matter to me who owns photos, copyrights, etc. Feel free to use what I provide to FindAGrave for the purpose stated above. It would be nice to receive recognition.
RE: Baker Memorial My own personal belief and proved to be right in several instances is that information on a stone or death certificate is only as good as the informants memory. I have made the suggested change and added a note to the bio.
Davis. Family Do you have any Information on the Davis Family in Itasca, When They Arrived. I noticed a lot of Davis's buried there. Also, ever come across a picture of Melissa Calista Davis Haygood in your travel's. She is one elusive Grandma.
re: Coplands in Itasca Cemetery Yes. I will look and see what photos and information I have on the Copeland family. I may also have information on some of the Barron family (Itasca Cemetery) and Major family as well. I think at least 2 of the Major family members may have been buried in the Covington Cemetery. I have an old family Bible to work with as well as my grandparents' (James Alvis and Alice Louise Copeland)photo and document archive.
RE: Mollie Evan Memorial in Itasca Cemetery Thanks for the note. I am attempting to clean up and link the Thaxton line in my family tree. Many of the females such as Mollie were buried under their married name and thus future searchers could not find those memorials. My paternal grandmother was a Thaxton.
RE: Jordan Connection My great grandmother was Sarah Etta Jordan, daughter of William Terrell Jordan. The lived in the Josephine area of Collin County. It's always possible we're related somewhere. I haven't gotten back as far as William Terrell in adding siblings yet.
