When I was 12 years old, my great aunt gave me a family group sheet with photos & I was hooked. That was 50 years ago & I've been working on my personal family genealogy since then.|
About thirty years ago, I started updating the descendants of Azariah Crandall Jr. He died in 1825, in Clark county Indiana. He had 17 children, 11 of which were sons. In just a few years, all of Southern Indiana was littered with Crandalls. It was very difficult keeping the families straight.
The memorials, that aren't my personal relatives, come from newspapers, funeral homes, death certificates, cemetery census records & military records.I am also working on imputing a cemetery in Northern Arizona.
Otherwise, I live with all my dogs & cats in the Phoenix area. I breed Shih Tzus & do kitten rescue. Sometimes I get very busy bottle feeding or with a sick little one. Please have patience with me.
If you have a correction, addition or family links you'd like me to make, please let me know. Click on the edit tab of the memorial & make your suggestion, I'd also appreciate it, if when you post a photo on one of my memorials, that you let me know about it.
I recently had a negative encounter with a person on this site. I am no longer willing to transfer memorials I have created or receive emails. I'm really sorry about this.

Ida B. Crandall B.04 Nov 1885, Crawford Co., Indiana, D. 18 Apr 1970 Marengo, Crawford Co., Indiana wife of John B. Vernon. Do you have any info on this family.
Thank you for creating all of those memorials to the Crandall family and their descendants. They are a distant branch of my family, and it is nice to see all of the details here.

I would glady include her obit if I had it. I added her daughter's as it was the only real bit of family info I had for the mother. I felt it provided a great deal about the other members of the family, included documentation for the mother's maiden name.

I'll send you the info, I have on the person we have as her husband, I'm still working on him.
I have just now begin to wonder if Clarinda Hobson may have married a different person
Thank you for your reply,
Penny A. Hobson

You have a very nice Crandall site on Find A Grave. I was surprised to find such a complete listing of the Crandall family.
I have James A./E. Crandall who was said to have married my 4th cousin, Clarinda Hobson in 1862, Clark co IN.
Her husband James A. Crandall joined the Union army. I know that James E. marr. Mary Jane Williams 21 Oct 1866 in Jeffersonville, Clark Co. IN.
If this is the same man that married Clarinda Hobson this what may have happened:
1. Clarinda may have died and that was the reason James joined the Military.
2. Clarinda may have died in childbirth ca 1863/64
3. They may have changed their minds an annulled the marriage.
4. Or this just might be the wrong James E. Crandall.
My question is: Do you have knowledge of James' being married before Mary Jane. Do you have his Military Records that may show that he was a widower or any info that might shine a light on what happened to Clarinda?
If you could drop me a line I certainly would appreciate it. I will be 77 years old in April. Therefore I'm going through my forty some years of research and will be donating my research to Indiana State Library and several libraries where the forbearers lived in order that it will be safe for future researchers.
Thank you for your time,
Penny A. Hobson

Thank you for your work and changing her name to Irean. Any help I can be on either the Crandall's or Foote's you have only go ask. I have been doing genealogy for about 40 years on these lines.
