Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.

This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!

This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into so many already have...

I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.

Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.

I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".

This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.

This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.

An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......

In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

RE: Father's grave
Hello Donna

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The newspaper article definitely says the Evergreen cemetery on Sandridge road. I found that cemetery and went through it. No luck.

The Pope that is buried in the in-town cemetery is not my father's grave.

My father died from the Wende (sp?)home in 1954. I checked with the Erie County records people, they claim their records do not go back further than 1955.

Father's grave
Hi Donna

My father, Edward Pope is buried in the Alden Town Cemetery. But I can not any grave stone OR any marker of any kind. I contacted the Town of Alden for a list of interments....they had NONE. The editor of the local newspaper showed me an article that listed his burial in the Alden Town Cemetery in 1954.
Do you have ANY ideas as to how I might find his grave? I would like to erect a stone (marker)if permission able.

Thank you
Bob Pope

RE: Philip Judd
Thank you Donna! I'm pretty sure about the later date, but will reach out to the others as you suggested. I am descended through Liberty Judd's granddaughter Deborah Judd-Miller. It's neat to see that Philip was so passionate about a free America.

Philip Judd
Thank you for posting so many memorials! I was especially happy to see my 6x great-grandfather Philip Judd on here. I did discover that the plaque on his grave has an error on it. He was born in 1740.

The 1740 date makes sense. I don't think there would have been many 61-year-olds fighting at Kip's Landing!

Date Correction for #25714370
Hi Donna, you are doing a wonderful thing by posting these memorials. I was able to find the needed information about the Abbey family through them. But I almost went by memorial #25714370 for John Abbey because the death date of 1855 wasn't right. I opened the memorial anyway and was delighted to see a photo of the tombstone and the death date of 1885 on it! It looks like that memorial got "fat fingered" when it was created. Can you make that correction for the next searcher? Replace 1855 with 1885.

Thanks! David Hart (947499503)

Thank you for your good work.
Can you make a correction on a memorial?

Cornelius White
Find A Grave Memorial# 16538669
His DOD is listed as 1909
He actually died in 1903. If you look carefully at the stone you can see if it is a three. I have his obituary if you want to see it.
Thank you for your work!

Hi Donna, I have a strange request for you. I am getting an application together for the DAR for James Morse who is buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry. You took the photo for Find A Grave. I am wondering if 1. you would give me permission to use the photo with my application and 2. do you by any chance still have the original Photo?
The photo on Find A Grave is too small for me to work on it to make it more readable when printed. If you still have the original, could you email it to me so I can work with it or if you have others of this monument that you can send me. thanks so much, Cassie
