Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in genealogy began 65 years ago when I followed my mother's and grandmother's conversations as they traced relationships of their friends and family.

As a Find A Grave photo volunteer for Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery, I sometimes stumble - literally - over a neglected or forgotten grave marker. I add information or create memorials for the lives I discover in this way.

I've lived in Portland since 1985. Do not presume to lecture me on the city of today or yesterday, the history or current status of Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery.

If you have rules and procedures and requirements for memorials and photos, don't expect me to follow them. As far as cleaning headstones? Don't be silly. I clean off the bird ****, wipe the dust, pull the weeds, rinse the mud. What good is a photo where the name can't be seen or the dates visible?

Almond Trenberth (not Trenberith)
Thank you so much for adding my gt uncle Almond Trenberth we have been looking for his resting place for several years. I do have info such as his birth, marriage date and a little on his family that I would like added,if possible. can you tell me how I go about it.

As there is no marker does that mean his plot will be used again?

Many thanks.
Kindest regards

RE: Aksel Johnson in Lone Fir
Hi Linda,

Thank you so much for the photo and the newspaper abstract. I have added the abstract to his memorial & credited you.

I do have several newspaper articles about the explosion and his death & funeral. However, I have not had time to abstract any of them, so, your work is greatly appreciated.

RE: Joseph Jones in Lone Fir
Thanks Linda,

I think the reason Joseph F Jones Sr. is buried outside of the family plot ( Block 6 L88) is that his son William died before him at 44 yrs and was buried in "his" grave next to his wife Martha P.
The first burial in the Jones plot was in 1863. It is interesting that the Bottler Tomb was erected shortly after that. I am joining Friends of Lone Fir Cemetery and interested in cleaning/ refurbishing the Jones plot and Bottler Tomb.
I will contact Metro Cemetery Services.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Linda
Linda, Shirley Bruhn Martys suggested I contact you. As the research assistant to the Platte Valley Kinssekers in Platte County Nebraska, I have had a request to try and find the burial place of a lady named Aloisie (Elizabeth-Lizzie) Potmesil who was the daughter of the two other Potmesils listed in the Burrows Cemetery in Platte County on Find A Grave. She was a person with mental problems and was believed to be placed in a facility, unknown where. Her mother passed in 1935 and it was then that it is believed she was put away. Do you have any idea if there are graves that are not marked in the Burrow Cemetery? Shirley said a lot of the persons buried there were related to you. Are you related to the Potmesil family? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Linda, I feel so bad that you had to troop over so much ground looking for a marker that appears to no longer exist - I thank you for all your time and energy - the area photos are perfect - they still give a sense of final place of rest.
After reviewing the memorials for other Day families here, it appears that if there are any headstone markers they have already been added. Something I will remember in the future.
Watch out for all that hot sunshine! Bonnie

RE: Lottie Perry #118793692
After posting some of the headstones that I had taken, I read the policy and realized my error and tried to go back and remove; however, I missed some, so if you would send me the memorial number I will be anxious and happy to remove the photo. Thank you.
