(Updated May 18, 2013)|
Most of my memorials were created from the 'Kansas Room burial listings' that are listed in the 'References Used' section below. Please do not send me a SAC that has an accusatory tone. Most errors in my memorials are due to transcription errors in that list.
I am more than happy to make corrections... just be polite about it.
Please do not leave me corrections on this profile page. See below for instructions on how to send corrections... that is the preferred way for me (and for Find A Grave, see FAQs). Thank you.
Please use the Suggest a Correction link on the EDIT tab on a memorial if you'd like to send me questions or suggestions}. Any SACs left on my profile page will be ignored}
Greetings! I am a F.A.G. volunteer for Atchison County, KS. If you have any questions about cemeteries here, feel free to email me and I will try my best to answer.
I am also working on getting the cemeteries from surrounding counties entered / corrected.
'Atchison County Kansas Cemetery Listing' 1986 by Roxanna Tosterud (to help find cemeteries).
Don Henry, who either walked those cemeteries himself or transcribed them from the following book(s): 'Abandoned and Semi-active Cemeteries of Kansas' Vol (I, II, & III) by Don L Ford'.
Atchison County Kansas Historical Society publications:
'Mt. Vernon Cemetery'
'Mt. Calvary Cemetery'
(Looking for a copy of 'Oak Hill and
Military' book from same)
Atchison Public Library 'Kansas Room' for the online versions of the above Historical Society books:
Info placed on memorial page for David R. Jay obtained from this website:
Permission email from website owner on file.
Information used for background and 'trees' on the CAIN memorials in Mount Vernon Cemetery (Atchison Co., KS) are from:
Autobiography of Captain W.S. Cain
Biographical Sketches of Relatives
Reminiscences of 1861 - 1865
Monotyped and Printed by
Crane & Company
and from CAIN descendants
All 'Date of Death' fields that were originally from the above sources (books / website) are actually the burial dates. Most cemeteries only record the burial date as that is what they have in their records.
Please let me know when the burial date is incorrect and you know the Death date. Thank you.
If I have prepared a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Edit link located in the upper right hand corner of each memorial and the Suggest a Correction (S.A.C.) option.
I have no problem transferring memorials... just ask (and use the S.A.C. link).
Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the EDIT tab on the memorials to send me a Suggest a Correction. I appreciate people helping me fix errors.
Also please send any additional information you have via the same method and I will add it to the memorial.
Sometimes, real life gets in the way and I may not get something done within a few days... if you haven't heard from me after 2 weeks, please send me a reminder.

|Neil Loftiss||RE: Charles Washburn|
One last thought... Did the cemetery give you the right location for Charles C? I do find it interesting there was another Charles Washburn in Section 33? Just a thought, in case no one else can find a marker for him in 33.
|Neil Loftiss||RE: Charles Washburn|
I went back this morning to try to locate a marker for him. No luck. I walked all of Section 33 twice. I would expect him to be buried around the other Charles Washburn I found yesterday, no marker. I see Dale has claimed this memorial, I hope he has better luck. Sorry, I tried!
|Neil Loftiss||Charles Washburn|
I'm sorry, I goofed. I went to find his marker, since you left the location. I indeed found Charles Washburn in the section, and posted it. Wrong dates. I assume his father. I will go back and see if I can find the correct one. Please re-request the photo. I am sorry for the confusion.
|DeMaster||Dixie Lyn - Oak Hill Cemetery -# 22859959|
Franz.. Thanks for all the difficult and tedious work you put into maintaining the Atchison cemetery recordings as much as possible. I thought I'd let you know that I located the surname of Dixie Lyn ? - Find A Grave Memorial# 22859959 and have corrected it. Her surname is Fitzpatrick according to the Kansas Room at the Atchison County Library. Thank you for pointing out our oversight.

|Lauris Watson Allen||Headstone for Charlotte Harper|
You have Charlotte Harper listed in Mt Vernon Cemetry, but there is only a photo of the cemetery's entry. Does Charlotte have a headstone in the cemetery? She is an ancestor of mine. Her husband is William H. Harper, but I believe the listing at Mt Vernon may be for their son Willie. I'm not sure and that's why I'm asking. His site shows a headstone and I'm wondering if Charlotte's is close by. At one point in the census a W. H Harper is shown a widowed and he may be buried elsewhere. Her dob is 1856 and her husband's dob is 1843.
|Ava Conner||Leroy and Sharon Helton headstone|
Thank you so much for taking a picture of my brother and sister-in-law's headstone. I very much appreciate the time you contribute to doing this.
Thanks, Ava Conner

I got your notice about a duplicate posting. When I look at the date of my posting, it states her memorial was added by me on August 13, 2009. The other posting you refer to was posted on August 30, 2009, according to Find A Grave records, so I don't see what you are saying about who duplicated who.
Secondly, I did not add the tombstone photographs. It says they were added by anomymous, and I do not know who that is.
It is NOT me.
It might have been a better idea to verify who added the tombstones before quoting copyright rules. I tried to click to see who it might have been, but get no-one.

|Mary Fallwell Henderson||RE: Robert Lee Followell vs. Robert Fallwell|
No, I really don't. I found the information on Rootsweb as a Interment Record for Sugar Creek Cemetery. Since my maiden name is Fallwell, I thought this was one of my relatives. Apparently, the cemetery record index for Rootsweb is incorrect since the cemetery stone has it spelled differently.
