Bio and Links
Bio Photo I took over after my Aunt Geraldine Martinez passed. This is all new to me but I have become addicted in finding where my family members rest. No one should be forgotten.

I was born in Alexandria, Virginia and now resides in Florida.

I am researching, on my fathers side of the family, Rhodes, Walters, Wright & Brockman in Virginia. On my mothers side, Lytle, Channing, Hayden & Moore in Pennsylvania. And for my Grandchildren, Greene, Caudill. Hutchinson & Vallance's in Kentucky.

I have noticed that I am not the only one impatient with the tokens coming up and I end up with two. I found that if you click on the flowers it will take you to a link to delete the extra one. =)

I have also found a link to calculate birth dates, so when you only have a date of death & the headstone gives you their years it will give you the date of birth.

I have met the most wonderful people with Find-a-Grave. What a great family we have here. Thank you all for doing what you do.

Everyone has been so generous with their photos that I would like to reciprocate. You may use my photos in you family trees. All I ask is for a thank you and recognition from whom you got them.

Happy Hunting =)

Strangers in the Box

By Pamela A. Harazim

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Yes, you may use the photo. Also It was a couple of newer looking stones that are face down on the Hillhouse lot.

RE: Murphey Cem.
Hello Melva,

Unfortunately I don't remember exactly where it is.
In 1989 I went to Hephzibah to look for the cemetery. I stopped at the Fire Station to ask if anyone there knew the location. None of the fireman had ever heard of the Murphey cemetery. As I was leaving an elderly man walked in and he knew the location and directed me to the site.

Here's what I remember:
It was not very far from the fire station. My memory says it was 1 to 2 miles but that may be off. It was on a two lane paved road, beside the road was a cultivated field. Beyond the field was a stand of trees abut 100 to 200 yards off the road. There was an open gate with a two rut dirt path that allowed me to drive around the side of the field and up to the stand of trees. The cemetery was heavily overgrown, markers were eroded and some were broken. Some of the graves only had footstones. Also, there were several sink holes indicating burials that were unmarked.

Wish I could be of more help and I regret that I did not write down the location at the time. Please let me know if you have any luck finding the location and if so, what you find there 25 years after my visit.

FYI, I am a descendent of Edmund Murphey and will be happy to exchange family information if you would want.

Murphey Cemetery
Do you have the location for Murphey cemetery in Richmond county GA. I was going to try to fill a couple of your request for photos.

RE: Alden & Francis Pettengill
Yes, you are welcome to use the grave stone photos for you family tree. I am curious as to your connection to this family. I just figured out that Francis Pettengill's wife, Sadie Etta Hart, is a cousin of mine. Sadie has now been linked to her parents and siblings. Best of luck in your research!
