THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY |
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

You are very welcome! I took the pics this weekend, the day before we got about 4" of snow. I wouldn't be able to find them now!
AND Thank you! My Find A Grave BFF's have been teasing me about the new user name :)

Thanks, Leilani, for ALL of your help!

The time is something that's just part of it, but you're more than welcome for the effort of having to sneak into the cemetery with an extension ladder, while my son kept watch for the maintenance men driving around, to be able to get a picture of the crypts that are located at the top of the buildings :) Dottie

Mahalo for those dates, Leilani...I had already noticed that her husband didnʻt have a photo and made a note to get his as well... have house guests right now so hope to get over there next week... weather permitting... weʻve been having a lot of rain! Take care....
|Dottie Gingerelli||Jack Sorci|
There are two name plates on Jack Sorci's crypt. The second one contains the names Thomas G. 1904-1979 and Marion C. 1908-1981. I took a close-up picture of it in case you have a memorial site you'd like me to upload them to..let me know.
Also, I'll have to go back with a ladder to get a photo of Frances Sorci's name plate because her crypt is 1 away from the top and I'm unable to get to it.
Sorry you've had to wait so long, several requests have been turned over a few times, but life happens..
I should be able to get a tall enough ladder over to the cemetery by this weekend. Dottie

Aloha e Leilani,
I just put a claim on your photo request for Mary Smith... do you have any more info on her before I go to the cemetery? Maybe some dates? With a name like Mary Smith, while it is a lovely name, there could easily be more than one... so any other info will help me fulfill your request. Hope this finds you well....
Me ke aloha,

My husband and I are the volunteers who drew your requests. I am delighted to tell you that we were able to not only fill your request, but we got a whole bunch of what we believe are your kin. If you e-mail me directly I will happily share what we learned re: the Parrs.

You are very welcome, it was a pleasure to get the picture for you. Not only was Mr. Ted a good friend of ours, we bought a lot of vehicles from him at his dealership, as did our family. We always called him Uncle Ted because he was like part of our family. My husband is still driving the green truck he bought about 11 years ago and my son is still driving the car he bought from him 7 years ago. So he was a great businessman too. We attended his funeral services too. He is really missed.
