Bio Photo "When I go to a cemetery, I don't just see tombstones. I see families there. I see history there. I see much more than just a stone..."

I've been working on genealogy for about 10 years now. I stumbled upon this site and so impressed with the idea that I decided to volunteer and add graves as I ran across them. It saddens me to see the state of some of the graveyards I've visited, but I feel like I'm helping save part of history by photographing the stones that are still there. If I can be of any help just let me know.

"Genealogy is the art of collecting tidbits of the lives of those who came before us. And a genealogist sorts, organizes and nurtures this info for the purpose of paying it forward to a future generation's hands. The bucket is in our hands now, for a moment it's "ours", but the rest of the brigade is waiting for that pail of water to be passed to the next soul." Gerblady

if you would like a transfer of a memorial, please use the "edit" button on the memorial and state your relationship. I will gladly transfer memorials within 4 direct generations. Others I will be happy to consider. :-)

RE: Maudie Adams
thanks for the reply. i'm a cousin of the adamses and had been doing a follow-up, from birth/marriage forward. didnt know the story of maudie til now. very fascinating. what a life she had! i simply put your info into familysearch and found hazel's 1927 marriage licesnse and hazel as johnny's widow with little maudie kirch in 1930, then re-checked findagrave. they give a different year of birth but i believe its still him, the later date being probably more correct.

RE: Holtsclaw
My grandfather David Allen Holtsclaw was born in that time period in Lilly, Kentucky in I think 1876. Maybe a brother?
Best regards,

The excerpts you have listed in this persons memorial are actually of his father William Ozum Wyckoff, correct?
Thanks,

Tom

RE: Lydia Metzger
Not sure what is on the stone, but I would have loved to have been able to turn it over and clean it up. I actually thought about trying that for a split second, but I estimate it's probably about a 500+ lb stone.

If you can get the cemetery to fix it, I'd be happy to return and take another picture.

Dave
