"When I go to a cemetery, I don't just see tombstones. I see families there. I see history there. I see much more than just a stone..."|
I've been working on genealogy for about 20 years now. I stumbled upon this site and so impressed with the idea that I decided to volunteer and add graves as I ran across them. It saddens me to see the state of some of the graveyards I've visited, but I feel like I'm helping save part of history by photographing the stones that are still there. If I can be of any help just let me know.
"Genealogy is the art of collecting tidbits of the lives of those who came before us. And a genealogist sorts, organizes and nurtures this info for the purpose of paying it forward to a future generation's hands. The bucket is in our hands now, for a moment it's "ours", but the rest of the brigade is waiting for that pail of water to be passed to the next soul." Gerblady
if you would like a transfer of a memorial, please use the "edit" button on the memorial and state your relationship. I will gladly transfer memorials within 4 direct generations. Others I will be happy to consider. :-)

Many thanks for the good information! Actually I'm the owner of Zoe Ham Reeves's grave in Park Cemetery, Greenfield, and in touch with my 90-year-old cousin whose mother Guinevere Ham Ostrander is buried in Crown Hill, Indianapolis, so I should be able to figure out how to do that--maybe!

Sorry, I don't quite understand. I thought I left a message about adding the eldest and youngest daughters of George Washington Ham and Adelaide Titus Ham to THEIR memorials. I've just left another one on GWHam's that I hope will make it clear. Their eldest daughter was my grandmother, and her husband wrote their obituaries. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi! I need the burial Section and Lot Numbers in order to take a photograph for you. This cemetery's staff does not help photo volunteers, and the burial location is not available anywhere else.
Last year I fulfilled over 450 photo requests at this cemetery after the burial location was provided.

Thank you. I'd like to add a message about his grandparents, George Washington Ham and Adelaide Titus Ham. The list of their children omits the names of their eldest and youngest daughters--my grandmother and the mother of their only living grandchild. They are Zora Emma Ham Reeves (1870-1934) and Guinevere Ham Ostrander (1890-1967). If you can get them added to the list, I'll be most grateful, as I don't see a way to do that.

Thank you so much for your kindness and service.

Correction to previous message.
I believe William K Jones was my great uncle, not grandfather.

I believe Find A Grave # 60474083 for William K. Jones could be my great- grandfather, William Keen Jones Jr. who died in Rushville, Indiana on October 24, 1922.
The tombstone only has the year 1922 and the inscription 'pop' on it.
Is there a way to find out who purchased the grave marker and put it there? From the picture, it looks like the marker was put there less than 30 years ago. Does the cemetery itself carry records like that?
Thank you for your time.

I see that the memorial for Michael was created by another Find A Grave member but is maintained by you. So, I am wondering if you are related to Michael. I am descended from Daniel C Casey, who lived in Rush County but was from Bracken County Kentucky. I am wondering if your Caseys are part of that branch.
