Bio Photo "When I go to a cemetery, I don't just see tombstones. I see families there. I see history there. I see much more than just a stone..."

I've been working on genealogy for about 10 years now. I stumbled upon this site and so impressed with the idea that I decided to volunteer and add graves as I ran across them. It saddens me to see the state of some of the graveyards I've visited, but I feel like I'm helping save part of history by photographing the stones that are still there. If I can be of any help just let me know.

"Genealogy is the art of collecting tidbits of the lives of those who came before us. And a genealogist sorts, organizes and nurtures this info for the purpose of paying it forward to a future generation's hands. The bucket is in our hands now, for a moment it's "ours", but the rest of the brigade is waiting for that pail of water to be passed to the next soul." Gerblady

if you would like a transfer of a memorial, please use the "edit" button on the memorial and state your relationship. I will gladly transfer memorials within 4 direct generations. Others I will be happy to consider. :-)

RE: Merritt Family Pictures
Yes, I think she was born Lela A Merritt, married William Drumm in 1908 (who also died in 1908) and then she married William Skiles. Unless I am mistaken (which happens a lot) she was the daughter of Emery Frank Merritt & Rebecca Demaris Gouge. Can supply docs or link to my Ancestry acc. I have some nice photos of the family for her memorial if interested. Not looking for ownership you have more experience with this. :)

Merritt Family Pictures
I have come into possession of many pictures of the Merritt's (my wife's side of the family). These pictures belonged to Shirley Merritt Coffman who passed away a few years ago and I have just gotten around to scanning them. There are many handwritten notes on them in Shirley's hand. A few date to the early 1900's.

Laughlin Cemetery in Rushville Indiana
Hello, I am the Historian for the Rush County Genealogical Society and I am working on a project with Mayor Mike Pavey and several others to try and have a restoration of the Laughlin Cemetery done.
I have already added some pictures and information posted to William B. Laughlin's grave site. He was the founder of the town and a great man of many first. He helped create the County in the Legislature. He surveyed and named it. He built the first house. He located and named the town. He gave the land for the town. He built and taught the first school. He built the Academy and the first mill. He gave $2,000.00 for the first church (Presbyterian).
I have more info and pictures and hope to have pictures of the restoration soon.
Would you consider turning over William B. Laughlin and his wife Ruth Laughlin ?
I also have the correct date of birth and other info. Thanks for your help Kevin H.

Find a grave photo
Thank you for the pictures that you take.
I would like to request permission to use a photo of Nathaniel Cunningham's grave marker. I will use it in my genealogy database and also share with family members.

Thanks again,
Linda Rogers

Sylvia Likens
Why did you leave out Coy Hubbard's involvement in the death of Sylvia Likens? Might as well tell the truth.
