Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a genealogist with 13 years experience who is currently researching the Muller/Wyrth family from France and NY/NJ and the Noble/Collins/Robbins family from NY and Porter Co, IN. I already have thousands of relatives from the Eckerson/DeMott (Bergen Dutch) family from north Jersey in my tree- going back to the year 1000. I am also participating in a DNA project for the Galimi/Catanzaro family from NYC/Sciacca, Sicily.

RE: John M. Decker & wf, Sarah Decker Memorials
Several Decker headstones :D

Not at all unusual on Staten Island. Some people allege, rather tongue in cheek, that Johannes de Decker (b. 1626 Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands & the original Decker on Staten Island back in the 1600's) and his sons tried to single handedly populate Staten Island.

So, the dates came from the headstone. It'll be wonderful to see the photo. I don't live anywhere near Staten Island & the posted pix are the only way myself & others can ever "visit" these burial sites.

And so great of you to have the forethought to photograph as many headstones as you could before the dark of evening set in.

At some point down the road, the work you've put in on this cemetery may be the only exisitng record of some of these burials!

Many of the records are already lost thanks to the cemeteries having been abandoned. And, but for the work of the volunteer group, Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Staten Island (FACSI), many of the cemeteries now getting attention would still be over grown & clogged with refuse.

I can't wait to see the pix when you get a chance to dig it out and post it to the memorials!

Thanks for replying to me so fast.

John M. Decker & wf, Sarah Decker Memorials
Thank you for creating these memorials!

John M. Decker, Memorial # 133782381 Ashbury Methodist, New Springville, Staten Island, is one of the sons of my ancestors, John M. Decker & Martha (Kinsey) Decker.

I didn't have complete dates for either until your memorials. Can one assume the dates in the memorials for John M. Decker and his wife Sarah Decker, Memorial # 133782418, are from their headstones?

Or if the dates didn't come from the headstones, can I ask where you did find them?

Sarah Decker's maiden name was Alston.

The marriage is recorded in the book, "Collections of the New York Genealogical & Biographical Society, Vol IV, "Staten Island Church Records" edited by Tobias Alexander Wright; 1909, p192 Moravian Records:

1827 - 24 Nov
John Decker, son of John and Martha Decker
Sarah Alston, dau. of Japhet & Sarah Alston
In the presence of Abm Decker & Eliza Christopher

Thanks again for these 2 memorials.

Samuel Collins
I would be interested in any information you have on the history of the Collins and Howard families in New York. Samuel and Sarah are my 2nd Great Grandparents. Thank you in advance. Jim McFadden

Dorothy Mullaire
I saw your photo request for Dorothy Mullaire. St. Nicholas is a big enough cemetery where it would be helpful to know the plot number. Would you be able to call the cemetery and ask for the plot number? If so, I'd be happy to take the photo for you.

Ida & Natalie Frank
Greetings, Lilypad!

Thanks for your message. Now that our dates coincide, I deleted my page for Ida. I also notice that we both have entries for Natalie Frank (yours is #16359891), owing to what are probably typos in her birth and death years. She was born in 1877, not 1677, and died in her 78th year in 1955, not 1965. If we can align our dates for Natalie, I'll delete my entry for her, too.

Best regards!

RE: Rev Joe V Catanzaro
No relation to the Catanzaro family; just enjoy fulfilling photo requests for people (and creating new memorials whenever time allows). Glad I could help you.

Marijtje Koning You took a picture in the grave yard. Is she under the flower or is she one of the stones. If it is verified she is there, because she is a revolutionary war hero the gov will put a memorial up for her.
