|I spent from 2001 to 2004 photo-documenting the remaining cemeteries within Peoria County, Illinois. In 1850, Peoria County had 153 cemeteries - today only 52 remain, and of these, about 18 are in jeopardy of going from ENDANGERED to DESPOILED. |
I am a local historian of Peoria, Illinois, and am attempting a several year project photo-documenting Tazewell and Mason County cemeteries as time and health will allow.
I can be contacted by snail mail at: Steve Slaughter; Historical Research; P.O.Box 881; Peoria, IL 61652-0881 .... or by email at: email@example.com .
History is meant to be shared and we can all learn a great deal from it - whether it be local, regional or national. I encourage everyone to learn as much as possible about previous generations in your specific area & then offer that research to others. Those of us who've worked history over several decades usually donate our massive collections to historical/genealogical societies, University Special Collections or other such organizations. IT'S FUN, EDUCATIONAL, OFFERS EXERCISE, MAY JUST KEEP YOU ALIVE A LITTLE LONGER, and ALLOWS A GLIMPSE INTO THE NEAR & DISTANT PAST.

|Cheryl Trent||Phebe Sr (Tharp)|
I found a tombstone for Phebe Crawford Tharp - her son was Jacob Tharp 1773-1871 buried in Weyhrich Cemetery, Pekin, Tazewell. Your info shows Phebe buried in Old Sand Prairie Cemetery for the same person & the stone looks the very same with same dates & inscription. Could one of these be wrong???? The stone shows Phebe Sr/Mother of Jacob Tharp/Died Sep 10, 1827/Age 75 yrs ---
If you could be of some help, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
