Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in the Carytown section of Richmond, Virginia, USA, one time capital of the Confederate States of America. I grave the area of New Jersey to Georgia, mainly looking for family burials.

My main interest in Find-A-Grave is that I want all of my kin represented, monument photography and portraits where available, and properly linked to their own. A large part of the graves I've posted are my own kin. And sure, sometimes in these cemeteries I'll see neglected or damaged or sinking markers, so I tidy them up, take a picture and post it, feeling like I might be their last best chance to be remembered to some future researcher. We all have the same goal, we're working for posterity, and I think this data base has become a number-one stop for researchers, and all because we collectively archive.

I'm a U.S. Navy veteran, Vietnam era, duty aboard the USS Canopus AS-34. I raised a family, but lost my wife. I made a career in newspaper production, am now retired, and enjoy volunteer gravestone photography. The best way I've found to get a readable gravestone photo is to redirect sunlight.

Anyone who wants to use my photos may do so, without restrictions. It's all for posterity. They have been posted here for you to use. If you want a transfer, simply ask for it.

RE: Messer's ~ St. Mary's Cemetery
No the Messer's are not my family. Like you just doing a good deed as I search for my family. My gg grandfather is David Dorman. Came from Germany and very hard to track. His wife is equally as hard she came from Ireland. In the same timeframe 1850-60 with the name Roseani Carroll. Listings list her as Rose, Ani, Anna. I have a death certificate for David and know he is in St Mary's but I have no date of death for his wife and do not know where she might be located. Both of their children are in Holy Sepulchre in Newark - Mary is not there. I had gone to Seton Hall to look thru the day book films but found nothing useful. They start after David died.

RE: Messer's ~ St. Mary's Cemetery
I see by your photo that you have been to St Mary's Cemetery. My gg grandfather is there and I would love a photo of the stone if there is one. How safe is the neighborhood? And is the cemetery at all maintained or it an early spring visit place.

Thanks for sending the corrections. We take pictures of deteriorating stones that we can't read in hopes that some one will recognize it and fill in the blanks.

RE: Richland (AL) Baptist Church Cemetery ~
Richland Baptist church is located in Pike County, Alabama some 1 to 2 miles north of Highway 10 about 5 miles or so due east of Brundidge, Alabama, going toward Clio, Alabama.

Any GPS coordinates would have been added by someone other than myself because I have found that the GPS coordinates for this area are not always consistent with various GPS devices.

Kathy Margrave
Chiles Family in Savannah
Hi, Rich :) I created memorials for Eva and Cheryl Chiles; let me know if you'd like me to transfer them to you. I just reread your Photo Request; I will go back tomorrow and take a panoramic view of the area...the large oak tree draped with spanish moss they are under is gorgeous! Kathy

Thank you kindly for the transfers of these two! I actually just started looking for info on Marguerite's husbands... have some leads, but need to do further research. Will keep you informed! I may be able to reach one of her sisters, which could be an immense help. Have a wonderful day!

Jones Memorials
Thank you for Felix Henly Jones, Ethel Colvard Jones and Samuel Thomas Jones III memorials. My daughter-in-law was overwhelmed to locate her father and grandparents. Your kindness is truly appreciated.

Moss gravesite photos
Happy to help. You providing the specific section of the gravesites did the trick. So many requets don't have that info provided and that's why there's such a lengthy backlog. Only family members are given that info, so volunteers can't do much without it in a cemetery with over 120,000 graves. Thanks to you, the Moss graves were easy to find.
