I live in the North GA mountains and love it. My favorite pastime is roaming cemeteries and taking pics, not just for myself but for others.
Always excites me when it helps someone who is unable to get it themselves. Glad to help, and if you need transfers or anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be glad to help you any way I can. Feel free to use any of my photos, I share good!

My lines out of
Franklin County and Banks County are Kesler/Segars/Cheek/Norton. Barrow County, GA - Attaway/Peppers/Greeson/Cheek.

RE: Peyton/Line Cemetery, Banks Co, GA
I do not live up there but used to visit my Mother in Mt Airy: she has moved to Jax and now I never visit that area. I do not know how big a problem this is but if you feel it should be named something different just suggest it to Find A Grave and they will get around to it; I am not well so I am not too concerned. Do what you think oughta be done. Merry Christmas. DLM

Ha, well it looks like we are all in the same boat of uncertainty. How about this: I will request the name to read Peyton Cemetery AKA Old Line Cemetery. It seems that Old Line is the colloquial name for it, if nothing else, and that way if someone looks at a map and sees Peyton Cemetery, they can look and see that it is Old Line, and won't create a new virtual cemetery which would be a duplicate. Does this sound about right? I'm not sure what else to do otherwise.

At the time I visited that cemetery that confused me also as there are no Peyton's in that cemetery. But that is what the map sez. If that is not the "popular" name Find A Grave will have to change it as I cannot. DLM

Not surprised about confusion about names of little cemeteries. That name "Peyton Cemetery" is the name showing on the Georgia DOT Banks county map. You can look at that map on line. Tell me what you find out. I would guess that is the colored portion of the Line Baptist Cem. If that is not the popular name blame it on the Ga DOT DLM

I agree with you. I have noticed a lot of errors and duplication; confusion between which is the correct cemetery, etc. Or others creating a duplicate cemetery just to add their own memorials. As you said- the list goes on.

As far as this one, let me know what you hear from Mr. Moore. The find-a-grave staff are fantastic and they can make any edits to the cemetery name/address/etc. if we submit the info on the Cemetery Corrections board in the discussion forums.

RE: Nancy Ramey
I don't have a lot of information about it. I am seeing that it is marked here on this government map (both Peyton and Line are listed):
http://www.dot.ga.gov/informationcenter/maps/Documents/County%20maps/Banks.pdf

There are several other slight references to Peyton Cemetery, with GPS locations (34.4126023, -83.5076688) which specifically match the location of that cemetery and not Peyton. Other pages:
http://georgia.hometownlocator.com/maps/feature-map,ftc,2,fid,329184,n,peyton%20cemetery.cfm

http://genealogytrails.com/geo/banks/cemeteries.html

http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/banks/cemeteries/gnisbank.txt

The cemeteries are more kiddy-corner than directly across the street so I think it makes sense that they would be two different cemeteries. Either way, there are a ton of duplicates that need to be sorted through. If your sources most commonly refer to "Peyton" as Old Line, perhaps we need to have the name changed on the cemetery (or at least a note added to the cemetery's front page, indicating the naming differences).

Let me know what you think.

RE: Nancy Ramey
You're welcome! I noticed there seems to have been a mixup on findagrave, however. Some burials are listed online in Line Baptist Church Cemetery which should be listed in Peyton Cemetery (across the street from Line). I just discovered this and that there are quite a few duplicates, including the one for Nancy. I'm going to try and clean up the mixup and get the duplicates merged.

Oh, boy! Reading your brief bio, I see the name "Segars," and I see "Barrow County." My maternal grandmother was Emma Jane Segars, m. John Griffin Elder, and I was born in Winder. I'll have to pursue some more of these cemeteries. Most I've found in Chapel Christian, Elder Cemetery in Oconee, and, later in Barrow Memorial, where my parents, Ruth Corrine Elder Miller and Roger Clifford Miller, are buried.
