I have photographed the entire cemetery so if James is buried there, it will be unmarked (he was also not listed in the 1972 walk through). But I will go double check Elizabeth's stone and see if he is on it but it had faded over time.

As a PS to my last message, I found Jacob and Maria living on the 1870 census with Samuel and Frances BEAM and children in Shelby township. That may be a clue as to their burial location since Mr. Beam died before Maria and you know the location of the Beam burials.
I always take white blackboard chalk with me when doing old stone work. By gently rubbing the details with the chalk, it reveals information that is otherwise not discernible. It washes off with a rain and does no harm.
According to the MI Deaths and Burials index,
Jacob Correll died in Shelby (doesn't say whether
in the town or whether it refers to township).
I see one daughter is buried in Curtis and the other in Utica cemetery. According to my info they were still in Buffalo, NY area in 1865 so likely moved to MI in their senior years to be near to one of the daughters.
There may be no resources, as such, in the township but the county HQ should be helpful. I would call ahead to obtain hours, location and their resources to save lost time in getting to the location where the info is available. There is a good chance there is no stone as the children by this time were scattered across the map and the daughter (likely) in charge may have not had money to erect stones.
This is especially possible since they really died out of their native area.
If you can find cemetery records for all of the Shelby Twp. cemeteries, they MAY show a CORRELL
plot owner - but don't look for much more as you will be lucky to find a few "crumbs" of info, if any at all, from those early burial records.
Sister Susan seems to elude everyone. Do you think she died young?
Are you aware of an original fragmented Bible page of recorded births and deaths which gives exact dates for Jacob, wife and children? I see it on ancestry family tree. Difficult to read but that is why I keep my magnifying glass close at hand!!!
The blood is very thin!! I connect via Catherine's daughter, Sarah, from first marriage (via Hiestand). I just happen to have access to a lot of accurate information so make it available where possible. I, too, was looking for parents in Shelby in Macomb County. No one has submitted a memorial. It is possible there are no stones or they may have been lost or broken. I am sure the local historical society has records for the three cemeteries in Shelby township. However that is something someone else can do. Why don't you create their memorials since you have the exact dates of birth and death (ask me if you don't) and leave the cemetery as 'unknown' for now. That way you can link the children to their parents. I will be glad to link Catherine if you decide to go this route.

Thanks for acknowledging my request.
Please check this memorial and let me know if you wish to correct any errors or add any additional information.

Jennifer Ross sent you a message and she was in touch with me also. It concerns the above memorial which I created myself back in April 2013. I note yours was entered six months later. I have documented the details for this family but there is confusion with Catherine's memorial being linked twice for her husband, once for mine and once for yours and perhaps other duplications that have occurred.
If you delete yours that will solve everything. I don't usually like to ask for this favor but due to the "first in line" rule, I am respectfully requesting your consideration and hope it will bring better clarity to the Strickler and Shafer memorials.

Hi the memorials that you have created at Fillmore Cemetery should be in the Clarence Fillmore Cemetery. This link got created by accident because the obituaries that they had just listed the cemetery as Fillmore Cemetery. So I can see how the confusion arose. I made a memorial for Adam and Catherine Shafer if you would just like me to transfer the memorials to you I am fine with that and that way you can edit them the way you like.

You're welcome =)
I'm trying to send you a private email on here, but it will not let me.
Would it be possible for you to email me so I could ask you a question?
Thanks SO much.
