WHAT'S IN A NAME?
many different spellings, that's what's in a name!!!
Duke-Dukes
VanHoozer-VanHoozier
Carleton-Carlton
Cook-Cooke
Haase-Haas
Etc...
It's enough to make you go HUH?

My main focus has been on Benton County Missouri, because my father's people settled there in 1859, and married into many different families; Carleton, VanHoozer, Chastain etc. They also brought a few different families with them in a wagon train, including; Sellers, Parker, Cate etc. Sometimes I take a few liberties with the OLD burials as to exact date of death, and Cemetery. I KNOW they are in buried Benton County, many of my ancestors were poor farmers, maybe never had a stone, and probably a few of them are at the bottom of the lake, because lets face it, before running water, you needed to live near water. Most of the small Cemeteries near water were "moved" by the Corps of Engineers.
Moved is a loose term, a cousin and friend who we will call Mr Chastain told me in 2009 when he was younger, and still living in Benton Co MO. He watched the Carleton Family Cemetery being "moved" They used a large flat bed truck and a couple guys with shovels, they would lift the headstone onto the back of the truck, and scoop one shovel full of dirt and throw it on the stone, then onto the next. NO bodies were ever moved...I am pretty sure this true for a lot of small family Cemeteries...
Back in the day, headstones were a luxury that few could afford, many field stones were used, but that burial would be lost within a few generations, as people moved away etc.
So if I have added an OLD burial that I cannot PROVE to you, too bad...

You may use any pictures/photos I have posted, thats what this site is all about SHARING information, and finding our loved ones final resting place.

creating a memorial John Smith 1888-1900, does not help anyone. you need to complete the memorial. where was John born? Who were his parents? etc etc etc
OTHERWISE WHY BOTHER?

I am a research analyst, so I dig and add info to existing memorials, more than I create new ones.

I would appreciate it VERY MUCH if you would NOT put a picture of the Missouri Death Certificate on ANY of my memorials. They are free to look at online,U know who you are...
OR any census records, they just make a memorial look messy, you are welcome to put them on your own memorials.
OR I will add the info to the memorial.

Quality, not quantity...

I try to create memorials that will help family members find there loved ones final resting place, with as much info as I can find.

additions and or corrections always welcome
