I live in Maine and am willing to take pictures in cemeteries in Lincoln County or nearby. I hate it, but I am getting older and have more difficulty stomping around with my cane, pillow, camera, notebook and bug spray. At least I inspire less suspicion of vandalism or grave robbing!
Keep in mind that a lot of old Maine cemeteries are on private property and I draw the line at being chased by big dogs (or other old ladies with canes!)

Good Morning,

I just found your photo of Adellʻs grave stone... thanks for posting it. She was married to my 2nd cousin 3X removed... may I use the photo on my private family tree? I always give credit to the photographers who graciously allow me to use their photos. Thanks so much... and thanks for tromping around all those old cemeteries! : )

Clay Wintersteen - Janesville Cemetery
Hi Lynn:

Thanks for the information on Clay Wintersteen and his mother. I've attempted to put notes on both their memorials to clarify dates, relationship, etc. I also found an obit for Clay which I added. No telling how the mistakes on the stone happened, but I appreciate the time you took in pointing the problems out. Take a look at their memorials with the changes I made and let me know if there is anything else I need to do.

Re: Crandalls in Crystal Lake Cemetery
I found and added Eugene - apologies for the quality of the photo - the stone was partially buried and when I uncovered it the sand and damp still obscured the name. I will try to get a better photo at another time. The only other Crandalls nearby were Helen F. and Eva. I could not find Matilda. There is a large Crandall monument in another part of the cemetery; however, the only markers nearby are the graves of John F Kerby and Lillie B Kerby Lindgren. There was a lot of empty space around that memorial and I fear any gravestones may have been lost.

Re: Elijah Champlin
Hi again, Lynn.....
I went back to the cemetery to have a good look at this epitaph. It makes a bit more sense now
"The fatal limb his head did crush,
And hurled him to his mother dust.
Without a momen(t)'s warning,
He was called to grate (great) Eternity".

Re; Elijah Champlin
Lynn, Squinting really hard at the original photo..I am guessing here..
"The fatal limb his head did crush,
And hurled him to his mother's dust.
Without a moment's warning,
He was not able to grate (greet?) Eternity"
I will go back next weekend and try to decipher it from the stone. It is a very unique epitaph! Kim

Mae Belle Olin

Do you happen to know where Mae Belle Olin is interred? I'd like to link her with Dom Lamoureux.

RE: Photo for Sarah Olin
You're so very welcome. I also found Sara's mom and she's just a few rows from Sara. I took a picture of her stone and I also found her brother Fred in a different section and took a picture. Would you like me to send you these photos?
