RE: Elmira L. Churchill

The info that I create memorials from comes from cemetery transcripts, and sometimes there isn't much available. The transcript did not have any dates listed for Elmira. In trying to find Mt. Pleasant contact info for you, I came across a transcript that had Elmira listed with the dates of 1846-1907. It also had Waldo, 1869-1940, Fannie, 1868-1918, and Leslie, 1899-1918. The site was:

I cannot locate a phone number for Mt Pleasant Cemetery, and I have looked numerous places. I finally decided to try the local Houghton, NY Public Library, but they were closed. Their phone number is 585-567-9242. I think they close at about 11:30 a.m. I thought maybe they could find a phone number for you.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Let me know if you want them transferred over to you, they are not in my family. I'm always glad to transfer.

Good luck in your research and please let me know if you want the family transferred to you.

Have a beautiful day!

RE: Altha Pickrell Furtick
The Orlando Sentinel has online archives.. I don't know if you can get a 1965 one or not...

You can contact Greenwood Cemetery and see if there is anything in the file on Altha. Sometimes there are goodies.. names on the deed or on the interment card.

There are findagravers "Hochi" and "Palsg" who add names to findagrave from obits. i don't know where they get them from.

RE: Altha Furtick
Yup. Just as I thought. She's at Greenwood. Between her and the other Furticks are the Edwards - Nancy and Vardman. Same row, but separating Minnie and Daniel from Altha. I took pics of them as well and I'll add them if they aren't already on. Also very close is a marker that is the same type as Minnie and Daniel's for Lee Roy Moss. Don't know if there's any relation, but I took his pic, too. And for good measure, on the other side of Altha are the Eshenaurs. All "just in case" pics.

I noticed your photo request, and the note with it. Since I'm documenting Greenwood, I'm compelled now to check for a marker for her. If the office there told you she's in block 10, then she's there. Her husband and other wife I believe are in block 10 as well, so I'm pretty sure the memorial is linked to the wrong cemetery.

I'll check on it for you to confirm.

Victoria M Allen Smith's Family
Wow! I am blown away! I have had difficulty finding much except census info on my great-grandmother Alice Amelia Smith Sreeves' siblings families until I popped Victoria's name into findagrave today. I am now (very happily) on info overload! I commend you on the wonderful job, all the terrific pictures, and the great obituaries, as well as the family links. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Alice was Russell Smith's next-oldest sister. Do you, by chance, know where Russell is buried? I had thought it might be in Omaha or Blair but cannot find any record of it either place. You can email me at
